What does the Fortnite One Piece teaser show?

Epic Games had been building hype on social media for a big October 24 reveal. Polygon says the announcement landed at 2 p.m. ET. In the short teaser, the Going Merry, the Straw Hat Pirates' first ship, emerges from the fog.

On the official Fortnite YouTube channel, the clip was posted with nothing more than three straw hat emojis. Polygon notes that the ship's figurehead differs slightly from the one in the Netflix show. That points to a crossover with the One Piece anime rather than the live-action series.

When does the Treasure Hunters mini-season start?

A few hours before the reveal, Epic shared the name of the new mini-season: Treasure Hunters. The official teaser shows a treasure map and a November 1 date, under the title "The greatest adventure of all! 11.1".

According to Polygon, Chapter 7 Season 4 ends on November 1. Downtime follows, and then the mini-season begins. It should last about a month before a brand-new chapter starts. If you still need to finish the current Battle Pass, you have a few days left.

Which characters are coming?

There is no answer yet. Epic has not said which One Piece characters will become outfits, or whether they will sit in the Battle Pass or the Item Shop. There is no official word on Luffy, Zoro or Nami for now.

An in-game news image did reveal several pirate crew logos. Polygon spotted logos for Peely, A$AP Rocky, Hatsune Miku, Kasane Teto and Lil Uzi Vert. Insider Gaming adds that the trailer teased Hatsune Miku's return as a Sprite, plus a Kasane Teto Sprite.

Why does this collab matter?

One Piece has been one of the most requested Fortnite crossovers for years. Insider Gaming says a One Piece themed mini-season to close out Chapter 7 had been teased since September, and the official Fortnite account played along with the rumors.

The scale of the brand is huge. Insider Gaming points out that the anime is close to 1,200 episodes and the manga has run for nearly 30 years. Fortnite has also been stacking pop culture deals lately, with Black Clover and Hazbin Hotel both announced on its official YouTube channel.

The mini-season launches on every platform at the same time, and Fortnite remains free to play. New players can check our Fortnite system requirements guide first.
