So let's take a look at how to play Pummel Party! Here's our Pummel Party guide...
Pummel Party Guide! How Is It Played?
Pummel Party is a 4-8 player online and local multiplayer party game. In board game mode, you use a huge variety of absurd items to punch your friends or the AI, and you must compete to destroy friendships across a collection of unique minigames. Pummel Party allows online multiplayer games. Your goal is to collect keys to trade for trophies/cups while trying to survive, and to take down your opponents using items and luck. If someone disconnects from a game, the host can save the game and, after everyone leaves the current game, recreate it by creating a new lobby and clicking Save Save.
Before the Game
Before starting a new game, it's worth taking a look at the game settings you've prepared for the players. If you're playing the game for the first time, it's recommended to use the default settings, because you'll first get a feel for what you like and dislike about the features, then you can customize the game to your taste. First of all, decide whether you want to play Board Game mode or Minigame mode. Board Game mode lets you run around the map and race toward objectives, using items to take down players and NPCs in your way. Minigame mode only lets you play the minigames you've enabled. Additional game mode customization is shown in the next section.
What Are Pummel Party's Game Rules?
This option lets you customize your game further. For example, adding more achievements or disabling minigames you don't want to play.

- Maximum Dice Roll 9 (default) 0-32 in increments of 1 Note: The minimum value decreases regardless of the Minimum Dice Roll setting.

What to Do Before the Game
Creating a Game
To start a new game, one person (the host) will create a new game. It's always recommended that the person with the best internet connection host the game. If a player disconnects, the host can save the game to reload it as a saved file.
Joining a Lobby
You can search the lobby to find the game your server created, but sometimes the game doesn't show up, so there's a faster method. If you're friends on Steam, right-click their name and click Join Game. After joining the game, you'll need to click Join to add yourself as a player for the lobby.
Character Customization
After adding yourself as a player, you can make some changes to personalize your character if you want.
What to Do During the Game
Objective
Your objective can be anything you want it to be. Whether it's punishing a specific friend or winning the game. In the latter case, we've found that you'll try to grab the most trophies 100% of the time. This can include active side achievements you'll pick up when the rounds end (e.g., most damage dealt, etc.).
Turn Order
At the start of the game, turn order is ranked from the highest roll to the lowest. After every round, the players will play a minigame, and the turn order for the next round is determined by that minigame's placements (also ranked from highest to lowest). NPCs (such as the Pummeltown Killer and the rabbit in the Dark Summoning Staff) always move after all players have finished their turns, but before the next minigame starts.
On Your Turn
When your character's turn comes up, a die will appear above your head, and you'll always see a golden line of light pointing toward the nearest trophy/cup location. You're offered the option to use items (if your head isn't swollen) or to roll the dice. Note: You're only allowed to use one item per round, only on your turn, and only before you roll. After using an item, you'll roll a 1d10 die, which lets you roll a numeric value between 0 and 9. Note: It's usually good to follow the light line's advice, but there will be times when it's not wise to do so (for example, if there's an NPC nearby that will hurt you).
Items
You can use items during the game. Ideally, items are usually used to put (an)other player(s) at a disadvantage and/or to help you reach your objective. Realistically, players use items based on how much wrath a player has drawn and, more likely, revenge.
Items can be obtained during the game in the following ways:
- Landing on an item icon.
- Finishing first, second, and sometimes third in a minigame.
- Using a magnet to take a random item from another player.
Minigames
At the end of every round, a random minigame will be chosen (unless someone selects a game via an available item). All players take part in the minigame and compete for placement. Generally, first and second place will get an item, but sometimes third place will too. All players get keys down to sixth place, in a decreasing amount (depending on the minigame played). Tip: If you're great at minigames and can control the outcome, the big kid game should be placed last, so you can take out players in the next round.
Maps
Depending on the map you're playing on, there are specific tiles and NPCs that can be included in/excluded from the game.
Strategies
- If another player is closer to the objective and you don't have any items that can help you, it may be good to choose a different direction to wait for the new trophy/cup location. This will usually get you out of danger (e.g., from a Rocket Skewer).
- If you don't trust rolling like a ballerina, or you want to make sure you reach the objective first, you can use the Rocket Skewer to put yourself one space away from the trophy, even if you're only two spaces away. (Example: You're two spaces away from the trophy/cup and have enough keys to trade, but the first tile is a reverse tile, which would make you walk in the opposite direction if you land on it. So you use the Rocket Skewer to move yourself one tile closer to the objective. Even if you land on the reverse tile from the rocket, the effect won't trigger because you still have to roll.)

Pirate Paradise

Rusty Ruins

The Rift

Overgrowth

This map features a new chest mechanic that offers three chests in a shell-game-style challenge the player must track while the chest containing the trophy is shuffled. Once opened, chests that don't contain the trophy will vanish in a puff of smoke.
