Nafstars Guide: KDO Points, Rewards, and Card Upgrading

If you haven't heard of Nafstars yet, you're not alone. It's a France-based managerial NFT card-collecting game, backed by one of Sorare's major investors, connected to real life through real-world managers and youth development staff among its team.

In this article, I'll talk about what needs to be done based on my own play, and the game's main features. Since Nafstars is a new project, it's still in development, and by my estimate it'll fully find its footing in 2-3 months. What can we do with what we have so far? What should we invest in? What's the logic and rewards of the game? Let's take a look together!

Which Artists Are in Nafstars?

The number of artists has been growing steadily since the game launched, and the real-life albums each artist has released form your catalog. Since the image above was taken from when the game first launched, many more French artists have since been added. Since the game was developed by the French, it's made up of French artists, but it wouldn't be surprising to see them expand worldwide in the future. You might not know or recognize the artists, but once you understand the game's logic, you won't really need to (in some respects).

What Do the Artists We Acquire in Nafstars Do for Us?

In Nafstars, the cards you buy or pull from packs are added to that artist's catalog, and you try to complete a catalog.

The catalog you're seeing belongs to me. I have 7 different cards of the artist Passi at the Bronze tier. If I can find or buy the last card in the bottom-right corner, the question-mark slot in the middle will be filled with a Bronze Super Card — meaning I'll have earned it.

Each artist has cards in 3 different tiers: Bronze, Silver, and Gold. After doing what I described at Bronze, if I can do the same at Silver, I'll get a Silver Super Card, and if I complete 8 different albums at Gold as well, I'll get a Gold Super Card.

If I own a Super Card from all 3 tiers, the game will give me that artist's Diamond Card and I'll have completed the catalog. I'll get to why completing the catalog matters shortly.

I have 3 Bronze-tier cards from Passi's 2nd album. If I fully charge these 3 cards with energy, they'll turn into a Silver Card. If I do the same with 3 Silver Cards, I'll get a Gold Card. So to reach an artist's Gold Card, you don't necessarily have to buy or pull the Gold version of that card — you can also do it with the extra cards you already have. After pressing the boost button...

Those cards will appear in front of us. The moment we tap a card, its energy will be filled. You'll know it's full once the blue bar reaches its 3rd level. If I fully charge all 3 cards this way, they'll turn into the Silver Card of Passi's Rap Bizness album. Since my first goal is to get the 8th slot on the Bronze Card, I'm not merging these. If I merge them, I won't have the Bronze Card anymore and will have to get it again.

What Do Energies Do in Nafstars?

Energy both increases the points a card gives and helps upgrade the card. Even if you don't want to upgrade a card, fully charging its energy will still increase the KDO points you get from it.

According to information from the Nafstars Discord channel (I tested it, it works), owning a Bronze Card gives 300 points, a Silver Card gives 900, and a Gold Card gives 2,400 points. Charging energy into those cards gives an extra +20 points for Bronze, +60 for Silver, and +160 for Gold. If you complete the catalog I mentioned and make a Super Card, a Bronze Super Card gives 5,000, a Silver Super Card gives 15,000, and a Gold Super Card gives 50,000 points.

If you bring people into the game with your referral code;

• 100 points for referring 1 to 10 people
• 200 points for referring 10 to 100 people
• 500 points for referring 100 to 200 people

What Do Nafstars KDO Points Do for Me?

As you add new artists to your catalog, sell cards, charge your cards with energy, or bring people into the game with your referral code, your points increase and accumulate.

I currently have 32,300 KDO points saved up, and if I wanted to, I could spend 30,000 of them on a 5-card pack. But I'm not using my KDO points right now because I want bigger rewards. If you spend your points, it's not reversible, and the reward is deducted from your KDO points.

If I redeem the 30,000-point reward, I'll have 2,300 KDO points left. These rewards go all the way down the list, and at the very end you have a chance to win an iPad, AirPods, or even a PS5. It's also said that in the future you may even get a chance to meet the artists whose catalog you've built.
