When your opponents take the field with a three-man defensive formation, they usually use one of two main formations: 3-4-3 and 3-5-2. The common feature of these formations is that they're crowded in midfield. Our recommended five-man defense tactic may look weak in midfield at first glance, but you can offset this disadvantage by reinforcing your defensive line with the back five. This tactic offers the chance to both score goals and defend well thanks to the effectiveness of your forwards and wingers.

Goalkeeper and Defensive Line

For our OSM counter tactic vs. three-man defense 2024 setup, we start by making a classic choice for your goalkeeper. Be careful to pick your fullbacks from players who aren't too attack-minded but also aren't weak defensively. In the sliders section, we'll apply high pressing in our defense. Since we don't want our opponent to use the wings, you can keep pressing between 75 and 80. Our style will be defensive, and you can set that in the 25-35 range. We'll set our tempo to 70.

Man/Zone Marking and Offside Trap
