PS5 Prism Collection brings back see-through DualSense

The PS5 Prism Collection brings transparent DualSense controllers back. Sony will sell Flare Orange, Emerald Green and Graphite Gray controllers and console covers, with pre-orders from November 10 and launch on February 4, 2027.

PS5 Prism Collection price and release date

Sony announced the collection on the PlayStation Blog. It includes DualSense wireless controllers and matching PS5 console covers, all with a glossy see-through finish. Recommended prices are:

Sony notes that retailer prices and availability may vary, and the Japanese prices include tax. The collection launches from February 4, 2027. Pre-orders open on November 10, 2026 at 10am local time, though exact dates can differ by country.

Three colours: orange, green and grey

Flare Orange is the bold option. Sony says it takes on a subtle rosy hue where the transparent layers overlap. Emerald Green is a deep hunter green that gains depth through its transparency, and Graphite Gray is a cool-toned storm grey.

Leo Cardoso and Satoshi Aoyagi from PlayStation's Color, Material, and Finish team explained the thinking on the blog. They wanted to bring back the see-through trend of the late '90s in a modern way that suits the PS5's industrial design. The high-gloss clear finish extends across the back of the controller, showing the technology inside, while a metallic middle cover ties the surfaces together.

Why is see-through hardware back?

Sony is not alone here. The Verge points out that Microsoft announced a 25th-anniversary Xbox Series X earlier this year, inspired by the original Xbox, with the console and some accessories in a translucent green finish. The late-'90s transparent look is clearly back at both big console makers.

VGC notes that the collection consists of three DualSense controllers and three console covers, so each controller has a matching cover in the same colour. Sony says the goal is to give players a closer look at the design and craftsmanship of the DualSense and PS5.

Where can you buy the Prism Collection?

The DualSense controllers will be sold globally. The console covers follow a different route. In regions with direct ordering, they are exclusive to PlayStation's own store. Elsewhere they will appear in limited quantities through select retailers.

Direct ordering from PlayStation is available in:

• the US, via direct.playstation.com from 7am PT / 10am ET on November 10
• the UK, France, Germany and Austria
• Spain, Portugal and Italy
• the Netherlands, Belgium and Luxembourg

In the European countries on that list, pre-orders open at 10am local time on playstation.com/store/hardware.

What about other regions?

Outside the direct-order countries, you will need to rely on local retailers. Sony has not shared prices for other markets, and the covers in particular will be limited there. The announcement does not mention any hardware changes, so these appear to be standard DualSense controllers with a new look.
