Getting to Know Raze
Among all the agents in VALORANT, Raze is perhaps the last character you want to go up against. Her ability kit is all about dealing damage and splashing. Although her abilities are quite easy to grasp, she is more complex than she looks. Our guide for Raze will walk you through some tactics and tips to get the most out of this flashy character.

Raze's Features and Abilities
Blast Pack
It is an ability you stick to any surface and use to destroy your opponents. You can think of it like C4. When it deals damage, it explodes on the spot and hurts enemies.
Paint Shells
It is a cluster of grenades. Each one breaks into grenades that damage anyone in range and spawn submunitions.
Boom Bot
Using the ability deploys the bot, which moves in a straight line along the ground and bounces off walls. Boom Bot locks onto any enemy in its front cone and chases them, exploding for heavy damage when it reaches them.
Showstopper
It lets Raze use a rocket launcher. This ultimate ability deals a lot of damage, but has only one charge.
Best Blast Pack Tactics
- Just like Paint Shells, Blast Pack deals friendly fire damage. Be careful when using Blast Pack around your teammates. However, unlike Paint Shells, Blast Pack does not hurt you, so you can use it to launch yourself into areas that would otherwise be unreachable.
- For those who want to keep lifting themselves upward with a Blast Pack, the trick is to attach the pack to the underside of the wall itself, then jump on top of it and detonate it.
- You can detonate the Blast Pack right after throwing it. It does not need to have landed on the ground for you to detonate it.
- As with Paint Shells, there is a significant delay of at least 1 second after throwing a Blast Pack before you can fire again, so be careful not to expose yourself too much when using it.
- You cannot shoot a Blast Pack to destroy it, but you can destroy it with abilities like Paint Shells.
- You can detonate both Blast Packs to launch yourself extreme distances. That way, you can see from the air where the enemy is and give your team the necessary info.
Best Paint Shells Tactics
- After throwing the grenade, you have to wait more than 1 second before you can fire your weapon again. So be careful, because enemies can hear you when you pull the pin and may run toward you at that moment.
- The first grenade explodes after 3 seconds no matter what, but the submunitions' timer only starts once they settle on a surface. This means you can throw your grenade to a high place, rain submunitions over a much wider area and spread the ability's damage.
- Paint Shells is an extremely powerful technique for punishing enemies who push from behind a Barrier Orb.
- Paint Shells is a great tool for making noise and distracting the opposing team. It is useful for confusing the opposing team while the rest of your team goes elsewhere.
- Right-clicking to throw Paint Shells makes it an underhand throw rather than a normal overhand throw. This is situationally useful for very close-range fights, but it travels at most 10 meters this way, while an overhand throw easily covers two or three times that distance.
Best Boom Bot Tactics
- If Boom Bot manages to explode on an enemy, it deals 125 damage, which is enough to kill a full-health enemy with a Light Shield.
- Boom Bot makes significant noise both on its initial release and in its subsequent movement. This gives your position away to the opposing team, so it is worth thinking twice when using Boom Bot.
- In most cases, Boom Bot never gets the chance to deal the big damage it promises. But if you time it right, it can be very useful as a distraction. While the enemy shoots the Boom Bot, peek around the corner and give your free kill a salute.
- Boom Bot can be pushed quite a distance by detonating a Blast Pack near it. You can force it off ledges or give it an unexpected burst of speed to potentially catch an enemy unprepared.
Best Showstopper Tactics
- Showstopper deals between 20 and 150+ damage, depending on how close the target is to the exact center of the explosion. A direct hit is a guaranteed kill.
- Firing the rocket pushes you backward, and you can use this momentum to bunny hop.
- You can chain Blast Pack and Showstopper together to fly through the air and fire the rocket from above. The rocket has no movement error, so it will go exactly where you point.
- While the timer counts down, you can switch weapons and fight normally without cancelling the ability. However, if you want to reload, you will need to wait for the animation to fully play out.
- You can bait players by readying Showstopper and then immediately switching to your normal weapon. Players will think you are an easy target, but while they go hunting, they will be the ones being hunted.
