What drove the Capcom record sales?

Capcom published results for the six months ended September 30, 2026 on October 27. Per its press release, net sales rose 49% year on year to 120.887 billion yen. Operating profit climbed 54.5% to 60.769 billion yen, and profit attributable to owners of parent rose 56.6% to 43.083 billion yen.

The Digital Contents business sold 36.86 million units in the period, up from 23.85 million a year earlier. According to 4Gamer, that's the highest first-half total in Capcom's history.

How did the new releases do?

Two new games stand out. New IP Pragmata reached 2.73 million units. Onimusha: Way of the Sword, released on September 4, sold 1.78 million by September 30. Capcom says it won two awards at a game show, and 4Gamer reports the series has now reached 11 million units in total.

Which Capcom games sold the most?

Older titles did the heavy lifting. Capcom says interest in the latest Resident Evil boosted the rest of the series, helped by pricing initiatives. Here are the updated figures reported by 4Gamer:

Game First-half units Lifetime units
Monster Hunter: World 1.17 million 30.83 million
Resident Evil 2 2.06 million 20.38 million
Resident Evil 7 1.47 million 18.87 million
Resident Evil 4 3.54 million 17.15 million
Resident Evil Village 1.33 million 16.27 million
Resident Evil 3 1.56 million 14.93 million

IGN notes that Monster Hunter Wilds, the latest entry in the series, doesn't appear in the list. Meanwhile, 2018's Monster Hunter: World remains Capcom's best-selling game overall.

Why does PC matter so much?

The platform split is the standout. Per 4Gamer, 34.05 million of the 36.86 million units (92.4%) were digital, while packaged sales were just 2.81 million (7.6%). Within digital, PC accounted for 21.03 million units, or 57.1% of the total, against 13.02 million (35.3%) on consoles.

Sales were also heavily international: 32.95 million units (89.4%) came from outside Japan and 3.91 million (10.6%) from Japan.

Did Capcom change its full-year forecast?

No. Capcom kept the forecast it gave on May 13, 2026 for the year ending March 31, 2027: 210 billion yen in net sales and 83 billion yen in operating profit. It also highlighted the live-action Street Fighter movie, released worldwide on October 16, 2026, and says it's on track to hit its full-year targets.
