The GTA 6 file size on PS5 is reportedly 210GB. The figure comes from an account that tracks PlayStation Store data, and Rockstar hasn't confirmed it. Preloading reportedly opens on November 12, a week before the game launches on November 19.

• Source: X account PlayStation Game Size
• Preload: November 12, 2026 (one week early)
• Launch: November 19, 2026 on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S
• Xbox size: not yet known
• Boxed edition: no disc, a download code in the box

How big is the GTA 6 file size?

The number comes from PlayStation Game Size, an account on X that scrapes the PS Store backend. Push Square says the account pretty reliably surfaces install sizes for PS5 games. According to its post, GTA 6 will take up 210GB on PS5.

Insider Gaming says it can corroborate the figure, which would make GTA 6 one of the largest games ever by base file size. Still, both Destructoid and Push Square stress that Rockstar hasn't confirmed anything yet.

The final number could also move. Push Square notes the size may fluctuate as Rockstar patches the game up to launch, and Insider Gaming points out that a day-one patch would add to the download.

When does the GTA 6 preload start?

Per the PS Store, as reported by Push Square, GTA 6 can be preloaded from November 12. That's a full week before the November 19 launch, which is good news if your connection is on the slow side.

Topic	What we know	Status
PS5 download size	210GB	Leak, unofficial
Xbox Series X|S size	Unknown	Not announced
Preload	November 12, 2026	PS Store data
Release date	November 19, 2026	Official
Unlock time	Expected at local midnight	Not announced by Rockstar

If you pre-ordered digitally, the preload should start automatically on PS5. The boxed edition has no disc, just a code. Push Square says that boxed version also arrives on November 12, so you can redeem the code and start downloading the same day.

What time does GTA 6 unlock?

Rockstar hasn't shared worldwide release times. For now, Push Square is assuming the game unlocks at midnight local time on November 19. Destructoid also mentions a midnight launch based on the same leak. That could change once Rockstar gives official times.

What does 210GB mean for your PS5?

Push Square estimates that on a launch PS5 with no SSD upgrade, the game alone would take around a third of the usable space. For comparison, GTA 5 needs a minimum of 148.2GB according to its PS Store page, so the new game is roughly 62GB bigger.

The outlet also connects the figure to the physical edition debate. By its count, a 210GB game would probably have needed three Blu-ray discs, and even more on Xbox Series X, which uses lower-capacity discs. Push Square suggests that may have played a part in the code-in-a-box approach, though Rockstar hasn't given that as a reason.

How should you prepare?

• Plan to clear at least 210GB on your console, with some headroom for a possible day-one patch.
• If you pre-ordered digitally, check that the download starts on November 12.
• If you bought the boxed edition, redeem the code on November 12 to start downloading.
• Wait for Rockstar's word on the Xbox size and official unlock times.
