FIFA 22 Ultimate Team changes: FUT Champions, Division Rivals, and other new features...
FUT doesn't have too many major additions for FIFA 22, but it does come with some notable improvements and changes.
FIFA Ultimate Team is the most popular game mode every year, and FIFA 22 is getting some changes rather than a major overhaul.
While the main changes are in Division Rivals and FUT Champions, a new card type has also been added with the introduction of FUT Heroes.
The FUT improvements will be available on all platforms when the new game launches on October 1.
FIFA 22 Division Rivals (FUT)
The biggest change in Division Rivals will be the new season progression system.
Division Rivals uses a new ladder system in FIFA 22 that better reflects your skill level as well as your current form.
The ladder works using rungs, with each win moving you up one rung and every loss dropping you down one rung.
You can now go on winning streaks that help you climb the rungs faster — win two games in a row and every game after that will move you up two rungs instead of the usual one.
While previous versions of the game assigned you a division based on qualifier matches, every player will now start in Division 10 in FIFA 22.

Progress will also reset each in-game Season, and Season Rewards will now be added alongside the usual Weekly Rewards.
Division Rivals will also get a new Elite Division where the best FUT players in the world will compete.
Elite Division ranks above Division 1, but it has no relegation, so once you qualify for the Elite Division, you'll stay there for the rest of the current Season.
EA Sports claims the new ladder system in Division Rivals will improve matchmaking, since it will try to find an opponent on a neighboring rung and division while also taking their physical location into account.
FIFA 22 FUT Champions
The Weekend League is gone in FIFA 22, because FUT Champions will now be spread across the whole week rather than just three days, as in previous versions of the game.
This year, the Champions Play-Offs and Finals will be introduced with points-based eliminations rather than wins, meaning you can still progress even if you lose.
Champions Qualification Points will still be earned in Division Rivals, and once you collect enough points, you'll enter the Play-Offs.

Play-Off matches earn points toward Champions Rankings and Rewards, and determine what you'll receive at the end of each six-week FUT Season.
Earn enough points in the Champions Play-Offs and you'll win a Final Qualifier Token. This can be used whenever you want.
FUT Champions Finals is the new Weekend League and lasts three days, but unlike FIFA 21, you can take part on any day rather than just on Fridays.
FIFA 22 Stadium Customization
FUT Stadium was introduced in FIFA 21 and returns in FIFA 22 with some new additions.
A VIP Area has been added at the center of the stands, which can also feature an extra TIFO for super fans.
Crowd Customization options include Crowd Cards, Two-Sided Banners, and Crowd Flags.
There's also a new XL TIFO for FIFA 22 that can be combined with smaller TIFOs.
You can now use a color filter in the Transfer Market search to help you find stadium items more easily.
FIFA 22 FUT Heroes

FIFA 22 introduces a new card type to stand alongside ICONS.
FUT Heroes are players retired in recent years who belonged to the specific league where they made the biggest impact.
They're also all assigned to the Heroes Club, which provides a strong link to every other club in their featured league.
Two heroes from different leagues will also have strong links to each other, which will help when building hybrid squads.

FIFA 22 Other Ultimate Team Changes
"Friend Open Matchmaking" has been added to FUT Friendlies, meaning you can play alongside a random teammate against other Co-op opponents.
Unlike a regular Co-op match, you won't use your normal FUT squad, but you'll be able to choose from unique public squads that rotate regularly.
This should give people the chance to use players they might not otherwise be able to use in the game.
Squad Building Challenges (SBCs) can now be reached from the Home tab, and switching between SBCs and the Transfer Market and back is now easier.
Your Team has moved to a Club tab that also includes Player Stats, Club Customization, and Leaderboards.
New settings have been added for Celebration Camera Focus and Competitive Gameplay, along with a new Player Item look to show off key attributes.
