Formation and team cohesion in Soccer Manager 2022 (SM22) are very important. Knowing which player types and attributes work for a given tactic before you set it up will make things a lot easier.

Galatasaray is the team we'll be going with for this successful tactic we've used before.

In the tactic shown in the image, the most important requirement for the players is pace, since pressing high up the pitch means the team needs speed to keep up with everything.

1. We don't want players with pace below 75!
2. The most important thing in this tactic is that pace has to be high. It doesn't matter where or how you got the player, having pace comes first

What Should the Soccer Manager 2022 Galatasaray Tactic Look Like?

With this tactic used with Galatasaray, the season was finished with 41 wins, 17 draws and 1 loss. The stats carry an important message about why this tactic is worth using.

The team lines up in a 4-3-3, but with a few tweaks inside it. If you don't have this template, you can set it up manually. Which players will you play? How big is your budget? We don't know, but the first rule is that any player you sign or consider using should have a minimum pace of 70 and above. After that, focus on tackling for defenders and finishing for attackers. Instead of keeping the full-backs level with the centre-backs, push them one step higher, line the midfield up side by side, and add a false 9 behind the two strikers up front.

For instructions, we set the two central midfielders to Box-to-Box, the player behind the strikers to Advanced Playmaker, and one striker to Finisher while the other is set to Support Striker.

We'd recommend giving the instructions to whoever your best players are.

For the general instructions:

1. Width – Narrower
2. Mentality – Attacking
3. Tempo – Fast
4. Creativity – Normal

The attacking instructions are all left on Mixed. If you run into problems or a bad run of results, this is the first place to make a change to give the team a different feel.

For the defensive approach, just set:

• Press – Whole Pitch
• Tackling Style – Hard
• Defensive Line – High

and that will be enough.
