Terraria crossplay is very close. Re-Logic has put the finishing touches on the 1.4.6 update and crossplay phase one, but issues found in testing have pushed platform submissions back by about a week.
The news comes from Re-Logic's October State of the Game post. There is still no exact date, but playing together across PC, mobile and console has never looked nearer.
When is Terraria crossplay coming out?
"The crossplay era of Terraria is drawing very close," Head of Business Strategy Ted "Loki" Murphy writes, as quoted by PCGamesN. The team put the finishing touches on crossplay phase one earlier this month and then moved it into extensive testing.
The plan was to submit the update across PC, mobile and console this week. However, the latest round of tests "uncovered a few things that will need to be addressed" first. Murphy doesn't expect that to take long: "Most likely, and if all goes well, we should be back on track by next week."
Why might certification take longer?
Because crossplay cuts across multiple platforms, Murphy expects 1.4.6 to face tighter scrutiny during the submissions process. After it is submitted, Re-Logic still has to wait for every platform holder to approve it. "Once we have full signoff, we will push the big launch button," he says.

What's in crossplay phase one and phase two?
Re-Logic is rolling crossplay out in two stages. Here is how FRVR breaks them down:
| Phase | What it includes | Status |
|---|---|---|
| Phase one | LAN and dedicated server support | In testing, heading to submission |
| Phase two | Cross-network session codes across all platforms, plus work on desync and connection issues | Being planned |
Murphy says the team is getting ready for the last few months of the year and setting plans in place for phase two, as well as what comes after. Future details will keep arriving through the monthly State of the Game posts.
What else is in Terraria 1.4.6?
Crossplay is the headline, but FRVR notes that 1.4.6 also adds music blocks and customised tree variations, among other things. Full patch notes have not been published yet.
tModLoader and a new community manager
The October post had two more announcements. According to Game*Spark, tModLoader, the free modding DLC, updates to version 1.4.4 on November 1. The update adds security features and changes how the mod library is presented to users.
Re-Logic has also hired a new community manager. Kerri R, known as "The Rat Queen," previously held the same role at Vampire Survivors developer poncle. She will handle most social media posts and help run the official forums and Discord. The team didn't manage a Halloween contest this year, but Murphy hints that Kerri may have some ideas coming soon.

Where can you play Terraria?
Terraria first launched on PC on May 16, 2011. Today it is available on PC, PlayStation, Xbox, Nintendo Switch, iOS and Android. It is listed at $5.79 on Steam's Turkey storefront, and prices vary by region.
The game has kept receiving major free updates for well over a decade, and crossplay is one of the community's most requested features. Once phase one lands, jumping into the same world as a friend on another platform finally starts to become reality.
