A big Slay the Spire 2 beta patch is on the way. Mega Crit plans to release the new content on the beta branch on November 12, and it is keeping the details secret. The main branch will also be updated.
The news comes from the studio's October 2026 Neowsletter. Mega Crit says it arrived a little late because the team wanted to share solid information on the next update first.
What's in the Slay the Spire 2 beta patch?
Mega Crit isn't saying. The studio says the new content will have more impact the less it reveals. The newsletter does offer some clues, though.
Since August, apart from a one-week studio break, the team has been working on big pieces of content. These features were on the Early Access roadmap from launch, but only in the past couple of months has the team been able to focus on them fully. Mega Crit says they need a lot of design, UX, art, animation and balancing work, so they can't be rushed or built alongside regular balance updates.

What do main-branch players get?
Players who stay off the beta won't be left out. The main branch will be brought up to date with the current, relatively stable beta, v0.111.0, including its content, balance changes and fixes. The new experimental content stays on the beta while the team works out the kinks.
What else did the Neowsletter reveal?
The second half of the newsletter is a community Q&A, with answers from Mega Crit co-founder Casey. The highlights:
- More co-op longevity: Casey says co-op has been received very well, with many players only playing multiplayer, and the team wants to add more longevity to it.
- More Acts: Asked about additional Acts, Casey says they are "in the pipes".
- No gold trading: Pooling resources on one player could let them snowball too easily.
- Custom Runs: The mode will get a pass near v1.0. Controller support and minimum text size rules limit options, so desktop players and mods will get the most flexibility.
Game*Spark's write-up says the new game mode will support both single-player and multiplayer, and that new character classes are planned. It adds that it is not confirmed whether all of this will be in the November patch.

Mega Crit is heading to Shanghai
Part of the team will be at WePlay 2026 in Shanghai on November 21-22. There will be a Slay the Spire 2 booth with demos, exclusive merch and interactive elements, plus a Q&A and signing with Casey.
Is Slay the Spire 2 worth playing now?
It is still in Early Access, so content keeps changing, but it gets regular updates and has co-op. It runs on Windows, Mac and Linux. If you want to try the new content first, you will need to switch to the beta branch. Mega Crit expects beta players to be sharing opinions on the new content within a month.
