Witchbrook release date set for January 28, 2027

The Witchbrook release date is finally set. Chucklefish's magical life sim launches on January 28, 2027. That means another delay, but it is also the first time the game has had a firm date, with PC, PS5 and Switch versions arriving together.

The date was revealed during Nintendo's Indie World showcase. Nintendo Life confirms the game is coming to Switch 1 and Switch 2 on January 28, 2027, and Push Square reports that a PS5 version launches the same day. The Steam page lists the same date.

Why has Witchbrook taken so long?

It has been a long road. PC Gamer first covered the game in 2017, before it even had a name, when Chucklefish teased it as something like Stardew Valley meets Harry Potter. The art style was overhauled in 2020, a release window followed in 2025, and then the game slipped to 2026.

Now it has moved again, but only to early 2027. The developers said they have poured detail and care into every pixel and thanked players for their patience over the last year. Nintendo Life notes that last year's delay was meant to make the world feel "rich, immersive, and alive".

What do you do in Witchbrook?

You play a new witch who moves to Mossport, a seaside town, and enrols at Witchbrook College. According to the Steam page, classes include Alchemy, Potions, Astrology, Rituals, Demon Hunting and Tarot. Complete assignments and pass exams to unlock more spells on the way to graduation.

To pay for your studies, you also run a witch business. You craft goods with what you learn in class and deliver orders by moped, or by broom once you earn your licence. You can even run a stall at the Sunday market.

Friends, romance and co-op

Classmates can become friends or partners, and every dateable character has their own story. Townsfolk follow their own schedules, and the seasons change what people need. Push Square confirms online co-op for up to four players.

Beyond town lie the Mossport Trails, the Parasol Sands beach and the dangerous Thorn Woods. You can also renovate a rustic woodland cottage and grow your own herb garden.

What the new trailer shows

Push Square says the new trailer shows classes, potion brewing, resource gathering, nature trails, broomstick flights, a tarot reading and room customisation. The Steam page also mentions the Moss Stock summer festival on Parasol Sands, the Swine & Spirits pub and plenty of hair, clothing and accessory options.

Price, system requirements and languages

PC Gamer says Witchbrook will cost $25 on Steam, and Chucklefish is working on physical editions that will be revealed and released after launch. The minimum PC specs on Steam are modest: 64-bit Windows 10, a quad-core CPU, 8 GB of RAM, a DirectX 11 GPU with at least 4 GB of VRAM and 2 GB of storage.
