What Are the Dragons in TFT Set 7?

Dragons are a special TFT Set 7 mechanic, but they seem not to work like other set-specific gimmicks before them. In the May developer video, developer Matthew "Wittrock" Wittrock said: "When we landed in the Dragonlands, we were excited to build a roster inspired by all kinds of high-fantasy stories featuring dragons. We looked at the champion list to drag out a few real dragons, and there was plenty to choose from, like Aurelion Sol and Shyvana, and that was it." He continued:

"We redesigned the League's dragon and dragon-like models to fit one of the seven realms of the Dragonlands. The Dragons themselves are part of a trait very similar to Rival in Set 6, and they give a benefit when there is only one on the board. When each Dragon is aligned with a different region, they will empower certain champions based on their traits and their allegiance to that region. They are also ultra-powerful units. Dragons gain triple the trait bonus from their origins, take up two slots, and boast an impressive amount of base stats. They also have unique abilities. However, all of this comes at a rather dazzling cost - you have to buy them from the shop."

Every Dragon in TFT Set 7: Abilities

Not all TFT Set 7 dragons have been revealed yet. But Riot has shared some of them: Aurelion Sol, Galio, Ao Shin and Shyvana. A handful of elemental dragons will also make up the leaders of the seven realms.

When Is TFT Set 7 Coming Out?

Riot has confirmed that Dragonlands TFT Set 7 will go live on live servers with TFT Patch 12.11. The update will be released on June 8, 2022. Dragonlands will enter beta testing on the PBE two weeks earlier, on May 24, 2022.
