VALORANT New Agent Coming in Episode 4 Act 3

VALORANT's lead producer Anna Donlon confirmed today in a Dev Diaries post that a new agent will be added to the game in Episode Four, Act Three.

Donlon said that Riot Games' VALORANT development team will "strengthen the foundations" of the game during Act Two, which begins after Act One wraps up on February 28. There will be no new agent or map during Episode Four's second act, as the team is instead focusing on improving the overall health of the game through agent balance, maps, player behavior tools, and updates to the ranked experience.

Given the typical two-month act length, players should expect this new agent in early May. There is not yet any public information about the abilities or role of this new agent, who will be the ninth added to the game since the 19th and beta version.

The new agent has the best chance of being a Controller. That's because there are currently only four Controllers, two of which (Brimstone and Omen) are almost never used at the highest level of competitive play, and new agents have been added to other roles since the last new Controller (Astra) was introduced. By the time Episode Four, Act Three arrives, it will have been over a year since Astra was added with Patch 2.04.
