ARK Giganotosaurus TLC and UE 5.8 arrive November 5

The Giganotosaurus TLC arrives in ARK: Survival Ascended on November 5. Studio Wildcard is moving the game to Unreal Engine 5.8 the same week, and the shapeshifting Enigmasaur will close out Fantastic Tames Season 1.

The news came in Community Crunch 530, published on October 30. The Giga is one of ARK's most feared predators, and it is coming back with a new look and more aggression.

What is a TLC, and what changes for the Giga?

TLC, short for Tender Loving Care, is ARK's name for updates that refresh an older creature's look and abilities. The Giganotosaurus TLC is the third from the community votes held during Extra Life 2025. The Araneo and Therizinosaurus were the first two.

Studio Wildcard promises "a fearsome new look and renewed ferocity." It says even seasoned survivors may want to reconsider their route when they see this beast turning their way. Taming it will not be easy, but those who manage it will earn a formidable ally.

PCGamesN points out that the date is no accident. November 5 is exactly eleven years since the Giga first appeared in ARK: Survival Evolved.

Why does Unreal Engine 5.8 matter?

The engine upgrade was originally due at the end of September. PCGamesN says it slipped a couple of times so it could be properly polished. Studio Wildcard now claims 99.9% mod compatibility and says it is fixing the final edge cases.

That is good news for anyone on modded servers. ARK's community leans heavily on mods, and big engine updates often cause trouble. A few small bugs in the first days would still not be a surprise.

Enigmasaur: The shapeshifting lizard

The Enigmasaur is the final creature in Fantastic Tames: Season 1. This bug-loving lizard can disguise itself as other creatures and gains different abilities depending on its form. Studio Wildcard teases "a Rex with a scorpion's sting" as one example.

To tame it, you first need to tame several of the creatures it likes to turn into. You also need the Fantastic Tames: Season 1 DLC, which includes the Burrowbuck and Cerberax.

Extra Life and other announcements

• Extra Life 2026 donations have passed $50,000. Every $40,000 unlocks a TLC for a classic creature, up to four.
• You vote by adding the creature's name as a hashtag in your donation message.
• From November 13 to 23, community-favorite dino colors will spawn on official servers.
• The playtest of Studio Sirens' reworked Survival of the Fittest mod runs until November 4.
• The studio has started sunsetting some inactive official servers.
