When does Black Flag Resynced 1.0.8 go live?

Eurogamer reports the patch goes live on October 27 at 7am PT, 10am ET and 2pm UK. On most platforms it's a modest 2 to 4.5GB download, but Xbox players are looking at 15.5GB.

Ubisoft says 1.0.8 is the last major content milestone for Edward's adventure, though smaller quality-of-life updates will keep coming. According to Steam, Black Flag Resynced launched on July 9, 2026.

What carries over in New Game+?

New Game+ restarts the story while letting you keep most of what you earned. Per Ubisoft's patch notes, the following carries over:

  • All of Edward's tools, upgrades, unlocked weapons and trinkets
  • All Jackdaw upgrades, unlocked officer abilities and pets
  • Money, materials and trade goods in your inventory
  • Unlocked outfits and their customization options
  • Hideout progression, perks and art collection
  • Every Kenway Fleet ship, plus Codex items such as treasure maps

Story progress, active quests, quest items and map discovery all reset, so forts must be retaken. Officers keep their abilities but have to be recruited again. Your Jackdaw and Hideout upgrades stay, but you regain access to them as the story unfolds.

You can loop up to five times, and each run adds another difficulty modifier: Elite Soldiers show up more often and max-rank ships patrol the seas. There's also a new NG+ currency, Escudos, earned from challenges and from looting previously opened chests. You can swap Reales for Escudos at the General Store and spend them on NG+-exclusive outfits and items.

How hard is Nightmare difficulty?

Nightmare can be switched on at any point in the story, and Ubisoft lets you set combat, stealth, naval and activity difficulty independently. The patch notes list these changes:

Area What Nightmare changes
Ground combat Enemies deal 1.8x damage, parry windows shrink, the white glint warning is gone
One-shot safety Disabled: bullets and explosives can kill you outright even at high health
Stealth Faster detection; you must be at least 6m above an enemy to stay hidden on a high perch, up from 4m
Naval All ship damage increased
Activities Sharks hit harder, urchin and jellyfish damage doubled, oxygen drains faster

Ubisoft singles out the disabled one-shot safety as the most impactful change, so expect stray gunfire and explosions to end runs quickly.

What else is in the patch?

Takedown animations from the original 2013 game return, including hidden blade, unarmed, single sword and gunblade variations. Ubisoft says they trigger randomly and can't be assigned manually.

New outfits, trinkets, sails, crew customization options and pet appearances are scattered across the Caribbean, along with six new hidden community chests. The fix list includes a bug that stopped the game launching in Offline Mode, and rogue waves now appear more often during storms.

The game is available through the Ubisoft Store, Steam and the Epic Games Store, and is included with Ubisoft+.
