When is the Pokémon UNITE end of service?

The official notice on the game's website doesn't give a reason. It simply confirms that service ends on Tuesday, March 23, 2027 at 00:00 UTC, for both the Nintendo Switch and mobile versions.

The Pokémon Company thanked the Trainers who have played since the Switch version launched on July 21, 2021, and promised a special event to run until the servers close. The previously announced Aeos Crown 2027 Tokyo tournament is still going ahead.

What happens to Aeos gems and UNITE Club?

Sales of the premium Aeos gem currency were suspended at 05:00 UTC on October 27. Any gems you already hold can be spent until the shutdown. According to VGC, there will be no refunds for unspent gems.

The paid monthly UNITE Club membership is also winding down. New sign-ups are closed and automatic renewals have been switched off. Current members keep their benefits until their existing membership period runs out.

The November 12 farewell update

A final content update lands on November 12, 2026 at 04:00 UTC. It adds a Unite Coin Exchange, Unite Coin missions and a Unite Coin log-in bonus. You earn coins by logging in and by winning ranked matches and battles in other modes.

Those coins can be swapped for items that have appeared in the game before, including Unite licenses, Holowear, Trainer fashion items and Unite snapshot items. It's effectively a last chance to pick up cosmetics you missed.

How will the library feature work after shutdown?

The same update adds a library mode that keeps some content viewable after service ends. You will be able to visit the Practice Area, view Holowear effects and Pokémon moves, swap Trainer outfits and browse your achievements and tournament history.

There's a catch. You must complete the library data download before March 23, 2027 at 00:00 UTC. Players who miss that window won't be able to use it. The notice also warns that library data generally can't be moved between devices, and no support will be offered once the servers are gone.

Battle items, held items and boost emblems will be view-only in the library. The Pokémon Company recommends finishing any emblem merging and held item upgrades before the shutdown.

Aeos Crown 2027 Tokyo closes out competitive play

UNITE's esports scene gets one last event. As Esports Insider notes, the game was dropped from the 2027 Pokémon World Championships back in July and given a standalone tournament instead. Registration for regional qualifiers opened the same morning as the shutdown news.

• Teams in Europe, North America, Brazil, Latin America and Oceania can register until December 5.
• Up to 32 teams will reach the offline finals.
• North America and Japan get four invitation slots each; Europe, Brazil and Latin America North get three each.
• Japan's quota includes WCS 2026 champions ZETA DIVISION.
• Two Last Chance Qualifiers, for APAC West and APAC East, add one place each.

The finals run on March 20 and 21, 2027. Day one splits the field into eight round-robin groups, with the top two from each moving into a single-elimination bracket on day two. Every match uses the All-Star Draft ruleset. There's no general admission seating in Tokyo; matches will be streamed on official channels in several languages.

That means the last official tournament wraps up just two days before the servers go dark, ending more than five years of official UNITE competition.
