Clash of Clans August 2026 Update: Gold Pass at TH3

The Clash of Clans August 2026 update brought a big change for new players. The Gold Pass can now be bought from Town Hall 3, and the Starter Pass is gone. TH18 players also got new pet and Supercharge levels.

Supercell announced the update on August 30, 2026. Below we go through every section of the official notes in order. The notes do not list upgrade costs or times, so neither do we. We also flag the October changes that came later.

What changed for the Gold Pass and Starter Pass?

Supercell retired the Starter Pass. Players partway through one can still finish it. In its place, Season Challenges now kick in at Town Hall 3, giving new players better teaching moments and a wider spread of rewards.

• Season Pass and Gold Pass rewards scale to your Town Hall level.
• These features roll out as a test from September, so not every new player at these levels sees them right away.

What did TH18 players get?

TH18 players got two new upgrade lines. Diggy gained levels 11 to 15, and the Builder's Hut and Monolith got new Supercharge levels. Supercharges also earn Sparky Stones, which you spend in the Fancy Shop added with Town Hall 18.

The Ruin Witch change and the October rollback

In August, Ruin Knights stopped losing health over time and the Ruin Witch could summon 10 knights instead of 8. Then the October 17 balance post said Ruin Witch attacks three-star about 76% of the time, the highest of any troop with meaningful use. Ruin Knights dropped from 20 to 18 housing space and lost a little speed, HP and damage.

What changed in Clan War League?

Battle modifiers in the top leagues now scale up as originally intended as you climb. Legend league modifiers are unchanged.

Which quality-of-life changes arrived?

• Wall Rings no longer need a free Builder.
• The Revive Spell can be cast straight onto a fallen Hero's icon, reviving them where they fell.
• Hero Journey adds fallback quests for players who lack the Epic Equipment a quest needs.
• The Fast Forward button can be fully disabled in Advanced Settings.
• Contributing Gold to the Capital Treasury no longer closes the window.
