According to the official description shared by Gematsu, the series is set in the world of Death Stranding but is not tied to the story of the games. It begins in North America immediately after Sam, the games' protagonist, reconnects the continent through the Chiral Network.

As America is reborn, the new connections bring unforeseen consequences. Four characters who walk a different path to Sam and Bridges take centre stage:

A wise old man who connects people through a method that defies all reckoning
A female soldier caught in a cycle of war and destruction
A boy who seethes with rage at the absurdity of his life
A girl who chose to cut all ties with the outside world

The synopsis opens with the line "My mom became a crater." Forced into isolation, the young girl grows to prefer solitude, until chance encounters throw her into a world she does not recognise. The studio says the series follows a young man and woman as they set out on an adventure.

Kojima Productions' 10th anniversary exhibition also runs at Azabudai Hills Gallery from October 31 to December 20, 2026. According to the studio, preview tickets are needed for entry between October 31 and November 3.
