How does potential work in FC 27?

Potential works differently in FC 27 Career Mode. According to EA's official Career Deep Dive, coaches no longer raise attributes directly. Instead, they help you judge a player's potential.

A good coach is more likely to spot a player's true ceiling. A weaker coach may rate it lower than it really is. The head coach of each group assesses the players in that group. EA has also cut the staff to twelve coaches, split across Goalkeeping, Defence, Midfield and Attack.

So the potential numbers above are the database values. The number you see in game can differ based on your goalkeeping coach. If you want a young keeper, hire a strong goalkeeping coach first.

How do scouts rate a young goalkeeper?

EA says attributes are now shown right away. Scout reports then add detail in four stages:

• Tactical Fit: match performance and fit
• Future: potential and growth
• Financial Assessment: the player's interest and the cost of the move
• Status: the player's happiness and situation

For a young keeper, the Future stage matters most. Check Financial Assessment before you talk money.
