How to Create Your Own Unbeatable Tactic in FM 22

In real life and in Football Manager alike, the most successful tactics are the ones built on variety and surprise. FM is not a game with only one path to success. Some users win with defensive football, others with attacking play. Some collect trophies with a back three, others with a back four. Downloaded tactics from the internet may give better results, but nothing beats the satisfaction of succeeding with a tactic you created yourself. So how do we get there? Here is how you can create an unbeatable tactic in FM 22 that fits your own footballing philosophy.

What Are the Tactic-Creation Options in Football Manager 2022?

There are 2 systems you can use when creating an unbeatable tactic in FM 22.

1. Create a tactic around the players already in your squad (like Jose Mourinho)
2. Bring in players who suit your philosophy over time and play accordingly (like Jurgen Klopp)

When deciding which philosophy to apply, you can look at what the board expects from you. If they want you to play young players and use crowd-pleasing attacking football, and you want the same, great! But if they have no such demand and you want to find success through defensive football, nothing stops you from doing that either. Remember, you are the manager, and there is no single way to be successful.

How Do You Analyze Your Own Squad in FM 22?

Study your own squad and see what your players are good at. How does your average age compare with the rest of the league? Do you need to get younger? What is the players' average height? You sign a striker who is strong in the air, but can your full-backs actually cross well? Compared with the rest of the league, how hard-working is your team, and how strong are your players on their weaker foot? All of these averages matter a great deal. If you manage the least hard-working team in the league, does it make any sense to start with a pressing tactic? Once you have signed hard-working players and defensive-minded forwards, you may be able to use that tactic, but for now it is best to try a different approach with players who spend their energy in only one direction. In short, read the reports your analyst gives you at the start of each season very carefully and make your decisions accordingly.

Since you can filter by position, half an hour spent here can help you get through a season that takes about 9-10 hours in great shape! You just need to set the time aside patiently.
