Yes. You can find old tweets. The simple way is to use the search bar in the top-right corner of the website, or at the top of the Explore section in the mobile app. If you know what you're looking for and the tweet is especially unique, a simple search without filters can work.

However, if you don't have much information about a tweet, or the tweet isn't very unique (maybe it's about a common or popular topic), search filters can really help narrow down your search results here, getting you to the tweets you need faster. In this case, you won't want to just run a simple search as described above. Instead, you'll want to use Twitter's Advanced Search feature. You'll be able to set filters to find tweets matching your search terms that also fit parameters like a date range.

How Do You Search Twitter by Date?

The easiest way to search old tweets by date is to use Twitter's Advanced Search tool on the desktop website.

Here's how to use the Advanced Search tool to search for tweets by date:

• Go directly to Twitter's Advanced Search tool through your desktop web browser.
• Under the Words section, enter your search terms into the appropriate text boxes. Then go through the other search filter sections and fill them in as needed.
• Scroll down to the last section. Use the Month, Day and Year dropdown menus to set the date range you want for your tweet search.
• Select the Search button in the top-right corner. That's it! Your search results should then appear and should fit within the date range you set.

Can You Search by Date on Mobile Twitter?

You can definitely search for tweets in the mobile app, but there's no actual Advanced Search tool you can use to search by date. The mobile app only offers basic search and a limited set of search filters you can use, like People (against anyone or just accounts you follow) and Location (any place, or accounts near you). You can also set your Search Settings to hide sensitive content or remove results from accounts you've previously muted and blocked.

But that's about it. You can't search by date using the Advanced Search tool in the mobile app. However, you can still use Advanced Search on the mobile website. Here's how to access the Advanced Search feature on the mobile site:

• Go to the Twitter mobile website and sign in to your account.
• Tap the magnifying glass icon and the Explore page, then enter your search term into the Search bar at the top of your screen.
• On the search results page, select the Three dots icon next to the Search bar.
• Select Advanced search from the menu that opens.
• Enter your search terms into the Words section again, then go to the bottom of the page to the Dates section to set your date range. Once your filters are set, tap Search in the top-right corner. That's it!
