Turn Off Quick Note by Disabling the Hot Corner
By default, the bottom-right Hot Corner is set to create a Quick Note, so a new note appears when you move your cursor to that corner. But you may not like this, so you can change or disable it to turn off the Quick Note action.
- Open System Preferences using the icon in your Dock or the Apple icon in the menu bar.
- Select Mission Control or Desktop & Screen Saver.
- Use the Hot Corners button to open these settings.
- The bottom-right corner will be set to Quick Note. Open this drop-down list and choose a different action. If you want to disable the Hot Corner completely, you can select the Dash option.
- Select OK to save your changes.
- Then you can move your cursor to that corner and see that Quick Note does not open.
Turn Off Quick Note by Disabling the Shortcut
If you want to go one step further and disable the keyboard shortcut added to Quick Note:
- Open System Preferences and select Keyboard.
- Select the Shortcuts tab.
- Select Mission Control on the left.
- On the right side you will see the Quick Note shortcut checkbox is ticked. The shortcut should be Fn + Q or Globe key + Q.
- Untick the Quick Note shortcut checkbox to disable it.
- Then you can close keyboard preferences, and your change is saved automatically.
- Try the keyboard shortcut, and you will see the Quick Note pop-up does not open.
- Although Quick Notes are handy for taking notes while using any app on your Mac, creating a new note as a result of an accidental gesture can be frustrating.
