10 P2E Games Coming Out in 2022

P2E games are games that can be both a lot of fun and a real capacity to play and earn, provide yield, and potentially serve as profitable investments. There are at least a few hundred play-to-earn games (P2E) already developed or in development, and the amount coming out in the next few years is going to be staggering. With that in mind, these are definitely some standouts among the upcoming batch of blockchain games. So if you're ready, let's take a look together at the P2E games coming out in 2022!

What P2E Games Are Coming Out in 2022?

Heroes of Mavia

The upcoming Heroes of Mavia is a blockchain game with a crypto-culture twist. The game was recently described by EllioTrades in his excellent regular newsletter as a potential "blockbuster" thanks to its "simple, compelling gameplay loop," "good tokenomics," and "star partnerships." Some of these partnerships and backers include major crypto game development funders Animoca Brands, Hashkey Capital, Binance Labs, and Alameda Research. Adopting a dual-token structure model pioneered by Axie Infinity (AXS), Heroes of Mavia has a dual-token system that includes the MAVIA "governance" token and the in-game "reward currency" RUBY.

Illuvium

We've covered Illuvium a few times before. But it had to be included on this list because it's one of the most respected projects being built in the industry thanks to its effective tokenomics, lush design, rich lore, and super-detailed gameplay. Illuvium is a Pokémon-inspired sci-fi auto battler that also includes acquiring NFT assets, capturing NFT creatures (called Illuvials), and a large, 3D open-world RPG element built around building and land ownership.

Phantom Galaxies

Phantom Galaxies is a serious contender for a AAA sci-fi blockchain game, and it's clear it has some substance behind it based on the impressive gameplay footage released so far. With an early launch planned for Q3 of this year, the game's website says it combines an "open-world space sim" with "a fast-paced mecha shooter and an immersive story."

Guild of Guardians

Guild of Guardians, commonly referred to as GOG, is a mobile action PvE RPG being developed for Android and iOS. It's free to play, and its developers describe it as "play and earn" to emphasize that the game is primarily meant to be fun and engaging rather than played just to earn.

Monkey League

Recently rebranded as Monkey League (originally called MonkeyBall), this P2E soccer game built on the Solana blockchain has at least two components going for its success — NFT monkeys, which seem to have never-ending popularity in the crypto universe, and turn-based, fast-paced arcade-style soccer gameplay.

Star Atlas

Star Atlas is a high-profile (at least within the crypto universe), sci-fi-themed play-to-earn game with a vast, multi-world scope and big ambitions. Built on Solana, the game has a dual-token GameFi economy (the ATLAS utility token and the POLIS governance/DAO token) and is a sprawling RPG space strategy game set in the year 2620.

Big Time

Big Time is another major project targeting the AAA-quality sci-fi game genre. Free to play, it's a multiplayer action RPG set across time and space in what amounts to a Diablo 2, World of Warcraft, Back to the Future mash-up intersecting with blockchain.

Gala Games: The Walking Dead Empires

Backed by the GALA token, Gala Games runs several games that each give players ownership of their in-game items (e.g., gear, vehicles, etc.) within growing P2E economies. GALA is used as a medium of exchange among players and platform users across various games. And since two of its established games started gaining traction late last year, the token really appreciated in value, rising from about $0.02 in September to over $0.70 in November. Gala's current playable games include the esports-friendly PvP brawler Spider Tanks and the town/city organization sim Town Star. One of the most talked-about of these upcoming games (alongside a very honorable mention for the fantasy RPG epic Mirandus) is The Walking Dead: Empires. This is partly, perhaps mainly, thanks to the TV show's massive fan base and its collaboration with AMC and Ember Entertainment.

AAVEGOTCHI: Gotchiverse

Aavegotchi is a popular crypto collectible game featuring heavily pixelated ghost characters that look like they escaped from Pac-Man, got mixed with a Tamagotchi, and developed a bit more personality. Launched by developer Pixelcraft Studios in February 2021, this addictive game is built on the principles of DeFi (staking, lending, yield farming) and pixelated, Tamagotchi-style fun.

Fancy Birds

Finally, Fancy Birds (FNC) is the first game launched by a game studio called Fancy Games, targeting the extremely popular casual mobile game sector. Paying considerable homage to the original "Flappy Bird," Fancy Birds takes the concept to entirely new levels.
