Paper Rex part ways with Jinggg and d4v41

Paper Rex have parted ways with Jinggg and d4v41. The Singapore-based organisation said goodbye to both players on October 31, ending a run that produced the Masters Toronto 2025 title. Neither player has announced a new team yet.

It is one of the biggest roster moves in the Pacific ahead of VCT 2027. Paper Rex are one of Riot's partner teams for next season, so the organisation stays in the league, but it now has two key spots to fill.

Why did Jinggg and d4v41 leave?

Paper Rex did not give a detailed reason. The signs were there, though. VLR.gg reported a week ago that d4v41 had been allowed to explore options with other teams as his contract was close to expiring. Saturday's post made it official.

According to Strafe, Paper Rex announced d4v41's exit first, calling him "abang", a Malay word for older brother. Jinggg's departure was confirmed shortly afterwards.

Jinggg's farewell

Jinggg thanked his teammates, coaches, staff and fans on his personal X account. "Today marks the end of an incredible chapter in my life," he wrote, adding that he had grown as a person and a player over five years. He said he was excited for what comes next but did not name a new team.

What Paper Rex won with this core

Both players were central to Paper Rex becoming Southeast Asia's best-known VALORANT team. Jinggg built his reputation on an aggressive style, especially on Raze. d4v41 played across multiple roles and, in VLR.gg's words, was one of the main leaders of the team's "hivemind" approach.

VLR.gg counts four Pacific titles in the partnership era and five international grand finals in total. The team qualified for almost every global event in VCT history. The end of 2026 was quieter, with Paper Rex going out of Champions Shanghai in the top eight.

What does 2027 look like for Paper Rex?

Riot revealed 32 partner teams for 2027 on October 22, and Paper Rex are one of eight in the Pacific. Partnerships run on two-year renewable cycles. Partner teams qualify directly for Kickoff at the start of the season, but after that they have to earn their place against teams coming through the open qualifiers.

The new season will include more than 50 tournaments across Opens, Kickoff, Cups, Masters and Champions, visiting 15 cities. Kickoff qualifiers start in November 2026, so Paper Rex will need to settle their new lineup quickly.

Other big off-season moves
