The Division franchise has passed 50 million players. Massive Entertainment shared the milestone as the series turns ten, while The Division 3 stays in production and The Division 2 gets its Echoes of Central Park expansion on 3 November.
Key facts
- Series total: over 50 million players
- First game: 2016, making this the 10th anniversary
- New DLC: Echoes of Central Park, 3 November 2026
- Price: $19.99 standard, $29.99 Deluxe (US Steam)
- The Division 3: in production, no date
How did The Division reach 50 million players?
The series made a splash with its E3 2013 reveal, and the first game arrived three years later in 2016. The Division 2 followed in 2019, although IGN notes its sales fell short of Ubisoft's expectations. Several spinoffs have come and gone since.
Massive says the 50 million figure covers players across all the games. It is a player count rather than a sales figure, and the studio did not break down how those players were counted.

What does Echoes of Central Park add?
The expansion takes players back to New York. Ubisoft's Steam post calls it the biggest experience since Warlords of New York. For the first time in the series you can explore Central Park itself, in a playable area that spans the park and the Upper West Side, both reclaimed by nature.
- An area roughly twice the size of Battle for Brooklyn
- A story-driven campaign with three companions
- A new endgame experience once the story is done
- A new Gear Set and The Ratel, a new Exotic weapon
- Six new Skill Variants
- A level 40 boost and 50 extra stash slots
You can play solo or in online co-op. A mysterious "apex threat" lurks in the park, and Ubisoft has not shown what it is yet. Players will find out on 3 November.
| Edition | US Steam price | Contents |
|---|---|---|
| Echoes of Central Park | $19.99 | DLC, level 40 boost, extra stash |
| Deluxe | $29.99 | Adds three outfits and an Exotic skin for The Ratel |
Pre-orders include a Central Park-inspired mask. A launch livestream is set for 2 November at 4 PM CET / 7 AM PT, and the Red Moon Unleashed event, which started on 15 October, runs until 3 November.

Where does The Division 3 stand?
The Division 3 is officially in production. It was originally led by executive producer Julian Gerighty, who also headed Star Wars Outlaws and The Division 2, but he recently left Ubisoft to join Battlefield developer DICE.
A week before leaving, he said on a livestream: "The Division 3 is in production, right? This is not a secret. It's been announced. It's shaping up to be a monster." The game is now in the hands of creative director Mathias Karlson, who was game director on The Division 2.
Massive reassured fans that the teams who built the world with Gerighty are still there, with an "ambitious, unchanged commitment to the future". According to IGN, late last year the studio introduced a voluntary career transition program as part of a move to focus on The Division and its Snowdrop engine.
