VALORANT KAY/O Agent Guide

KAY/O, the agent who's become an indispensable champion of VALORANT tournaments, wasn't loved by many players at first, but after seeing tournaments, they started to understand just how important this agent is. KAY/O has already become a main agent for many esports players since the day he was released. So why is KAY/O so important? Why is he picked in tournaments? Let's go over some details in this guide we've prepared on the VALORANT KAY/O agent.

What Are VALORANT KAY/O's Abilities?

Riot designed KAY/O to feel a little familiar, but added a fresh VALORANT twist. Because of this, when you see his abilities, many of them will look quite similar to other FPS games. With flashbangs, grenades, and more, he's sure to be deadly in the right hands.

C Ability – FRAG/MENT (200 Credits): EQUIP an explosive fragment charge. FIRE to throw the charge. The charge sticks to the ground, then detonates several times, dealing near-lethal damage to anyone caught in its center. Q Ability – FLASH/DRIVE (250 Credits): EQUIP a blinding charge. FIRE to throw the charge. The blinding charge detonates shortly after, blinding everyone within line of sight. E Ability – ZERO/POINT (1 free): EQUIP a suppression blade that lets you suppress enemies. FIRE to throw the blade. The blade sticks into the first surface it hits, and when it detonates, it suppresses everyone within its radius. Ultimate Ability – OVERDRIVE (Seven points): KAY/O overloads with polarized radianite energy and gets INSTANTLY empowered, releasing massive waves of energy from his location. Enemies hit by the energy waves are suppressed briefly. KAY/O gains a combat buff while Overloaded, meaning while his ultimate is active. If KAY/O is killed while Overloaded, he falls to the ground and enters an unstable state, allowing allies to stabilize his core and revive him. Keep in mind his downed state has 850 health.

The most dangerous part of KAY/O's kit is the ZERO/POINT suppression blade. With the ability to stop agents from using their abilities even through a wall, it's perfect both for flanking and for stopping incoming pushes.

On top of that, the Ultimate ability lets him be revived if he's killed while it's active. Allies downed with an 850 HP buffer can stabilize his core and bring him back up again.

How Should You Play VALORANT KAY/O?

While KAY/O's abilities may not look revolutionary, it's clear he has the power to change the game in the right hands. As we saw above, the FRAG/MENT charge deals damage worth three hits and is nearly lethal if a player is caught in the center. You can drop it on choke points to deter enemy advances or to cause absolute chaos if they're all grouped up.

However, all eyes are on that ZERO/POINT suppression blade. With its dual functionality, it can be the perfect tool both for scouting and for pushing in. All enemies caught in the suppression will be revealed to your teammates. This means you'll be telling them exactly which agents are easy prey. Likewise, this is the way to open fire on a rotation toward a choke point or a popular bomb site.

On top of that, if you know a large group is about to attack you, firing the blade will suppress all of them. This means they'll have to rely on their gunplay to come out alive.

In the end, the ultimate ability can make or break a fight. Besides suppression, KAY/O also has a "downed" state with 850 health while waiting to be revived. If picked up by a teammate, he can return to action with up to 100 health.

Since KAY/O is a robot, he isn't tied to any country. Like some other agents whose ethnic background is unknown, unfortunately there's no information in Riot's system about where our agent KAY/O is from.
