On the EA Forums, a player opened an FC 27 thread asking EA to remove or extend the 15-season limit. An EA Community Manager replied that there are no announced changes to the season limit in FC 27. In other words, the cap that dates back to FIFA's old Manager Mode is still in place.

What year does an FC 27 career end?

FC 27 is built around the 2026/27 season. If you start your career at the beginning of that season, 15 seasons takes you to 2040/41 as the final campaign. That is simple arithmetic, not a date EA has published. Previous games followed the same pattern: FIFA 23 careers ran from the 2022/23 season to the end of 2036/37.

FC 27's Live Start Points also let you begin a career from different points in the real-world season. EA has not explained how those starts interact with the 15-season count.

What happens when FC 27 Career Mode ends?

EA has not described FC 27's final screen. In previous games, the process went like this: after the last match of the final season you received a thank-you message, the credits rolled and the career closed. You could not keep going on the same save and had to start a new career. Nothing suggests this has changed in FC 27, but backing up your save before the final season is still a sensible move.

Retirement in Player Career

Player Career is bound by the same 15-season cap. According to EA Help, the Clean Slate origin story starts your created player at 18, which puts them at around 33 when the 15th season wraps up. Players on the EA Forums have complained about exactly that, saying the limit forces unrealistic retirements around the age of 33.

We could not find an official EA rule for FC 27 on the age at which you can choose to retire your own player. Forum users also report the game sometimes announcing a retirement mid-season. If you start a Player Career with a real player already in their 30s, expect that career to end well before season 15.

How the world changes over a long save

Growth Profiles: six profiles decide how players develop, peak and decline.
Generated players: players who replace retirees no longer inherit their predecessor's data. They are generated randomly, although potential still shapes the result.
Free agents: free agents who stay without a club for an extended period can eventually retire.
Dynamic OVR: ratings move with form, morale and match fitness.

EA's Title Update 1.0.4 on 7 October 2026 also reduced the number of high-OVR and high-potential players generated in Manager Career, which affects squad balance deep into a save.

Can you get past the 15-season limit?

Not officially. In earlier games, PC players reportedly got around it with mods, but EA does not support mods and they can corrupt a save. Console players have no such option. Players on the EA Forums are asking for 20, 25 or even 30-season careers, and EA has not announced anything along those lines for FC 27.
