LoL Worlds 2023 Location: South Korea Leak (December 2022)

It has been only a little over a month since this year's League of Legends World Championship was held in the United States, and we already have an idea of where the 2023 World Championship will be held. Worlds is the biggest event in League of Legends Esports. Every year, the best teams from the main regions come together to compete for the Summoner's Cup to determine who the best LoL team in the world is.

The last championship was held in North America, starting with the play-ins in Mexico, and the grand final took place in San Francisco. Although American fans were excited to see the championship return home, the competition struggled to maintain its usual viewership because of a time difference that is not ideal for the other big regions. However, when DRX proved everyone wrong and beat the T1 giants, viewership rose for the exciting finals and viewing records were broken. On top of this news, where the 2023 Worlds tournament is planned to be held has leaked! Let's look at the details together.

Where Will the 2023 World Championship Be Held?

The 2023 World Championship will be held in South Korea, according to a leak from LEC's Wooloo. Although we have only just finished this year's championship, we miss returning to high-stakes competition in 2023, and it now looks like the location has been revealed. This is, of course, very exciting news, because South Korea has one of the biggest League of Legends fan bases and also dominates the standings for most World championships won.

League of Legends is very popular in South Korea in general, so much so that they recently opened a Riot Games-themed arcade at Incheon International Airport. Despite having one of the biggest fan bases, Worlds has been hosted in South Korea only twice, the last time in 2018, when Invictus Gaming beat Fnatic in the grand final.

Considering the effort shown last time, we are very excited to see the World Championship return to South Korea and to see enthusiastic fans cheering for their favorite teams.
