LoL Nautilus Runes and Build Guide (Season 12)

Like most other support champions, this character has a stun ability. But do you know how many of his abilities can stun? Let us explain with an example. What Should Nautilus's Runes Be?

We want to start Nautilus's detailed guide with the runes you should enter in-game. Runes give you extra bits of damage, a shield, or attack speed, however small, in a match. There are certain rune pages for a support Nautilus as well. The two pages we'll list in order are Resolve and Inspiration.

From the Resolve tree:

• Aftershock
• Shield Bash
• Bone Plating
• Unflinching

From the Inspiration tree:

• Biscuit Delivery
• Cosmic Insight

you can enter the game with these runes. The reason we take Aftershock from the Resolve tree is that Nautilus can stun the enemy. Aftershock gives extra magic resist and a shield when you stun an opponent. This rune is also an invaluable piece for Nautilus.

What Should Nautilus's Build Be?

Let's explain the term "build" for those who don't know it. When someone asks about a champion's build, or what build to play with, here's what we should understand. How do you reach a champion's final state, meaning the state with all 6 items? The answer to questions like "which items should be bought to form the build" is our champion's fully-itemized form. Since "build" means to construct, we are constructing the champion's final form. While constructing it, we need to buy the items along the way in the right order so there's no disruption to the flow of the game. We're planning to split these items into 3 parts for you: what to buy at the start of the game, what to buy in the mid-game, and what to buy in the late game.

What Are Nautilus's Early Game Items?

Since Nautilus is a support champion who plays in the bot lane, we'd like to remind you he should start with "Relic Shield," the item support champions buy. Before leaving base, buying 2 Health Potions and a Stealth Ward will serve you well. Playing it as safe as possible in the first 5 minutes and completing "Bramble Vest," the first step towards "Locket of the Iron Solari," is important. On top of that, picking up your boots within the first 5 minutes can also be a great start to the game for you.

What Are Nautilus's Mid Game Items?

Once you hit the 15-minute mark, we can no longer really call it the early game. We're talking about the point that will decide the game's fate — the point where you can win if you get a lot of kills or damage, but also risk losing the game if you die too often. At this point, you need to have finished a few of your core items. Besides completing "Locket of the Iron Solari" and "Plated Steelcaps," you should also upgrade your support item, "Relic Shield." You'll see this happen automatically around the 12th or 13th minute as you assist your marksman.

What Are Nautilus's Late Game Items?

As the game progresses further, you need to have a complete build. Otherwise, you won't be able to fully support either your marksman or your team. You need to be able to tank most of the magic and physical damage. For this, our recommendations are:

"Thornmail" for the damage that could come from physical attacks,

"Knight's Vow" for fast healing,

"Zeke's Convergence" for the armor, mana, and health trifecta

these are the extra items we need to pick up. So, in the end, Nautilus's final build should look like this:

What Are Nautilus's Counter (CT) Champions?

There are a few champions Nautilus is weak against in-game, meaning they can counter him easily. A few of these are:

• Renata Glasc
• Janna
• Soraka

Unfortunately, Nautilus is weak against these three champions. They can escape or slip away from your abilities very quickly.

Champions Nautilus Is Strong Against in Matchups

In-game, Nautilus can dominate certain champions considerably. Some of these are:

• Yuumi
• Thresh
• Karma

These three champions are weaker against Nautilus compared to other champions. If the opposing side picks one of these three, you can confidently lock in Nautilus.
