PGL Masters Bucharest has its final four. MOUZ beat Aurora 2-0 and FURIA swept BETBOOM 2-0 in the last two quarter-finals, setting up Nemiga vs Vitality and MOUZ vs FURIA in the semi-finals.

After FUT's exit to Nemiga, Aurora were the other team Turkish fans were following closely. They went 3-1 in the Swiss stage, beating G2, Nemiga and Liquid, but could not carry their strong Swiss-stage form into the playoffs.

The event runs from October 24 to 31 in Bucharest with a $1,250,000 prize pool. According to HLTV, the teams in 5th-8th place each take $25,000 in player share plus $25,000 in club share. Aurora and FUT are in that group.

Why did Aurora lose to MOUZ?

Aurora started well, going 3-0 up on the CT side of Mirage. But once MOUZ could afford full buys, the game turned. HLTV says Aurora won only five of the remaining 31 rounds in the series.

MOUZ went into half-time on Mirage two rounds ahead, led by Spinx, who finished with a 1.74 rating. PR then picked up a triple kill in the second pistol round. Aurora won just one T round as MOUZ closed out the map.

Cache was no different. HLTV writes that Aurora's attack struggled to find gaps in MOUZ's setup. MOUZ took the first half 10-2, then quickly won three rounds on offense to end the series.

Aurora AWPer woxic posted on X after the loss. "Unfortunately, we couldn't put up a fight against MOUZ, either as a team or individually," he wrote. For MOUZ, xelex said the team prepared "as usual" and that the prep worked well.

HLTV notes it was the first meeting between the teams since PGL Astana, where MOUZ used a stand-in and Aurora still had a full Turkish roster.

How FURIA beat BETBOOM

This was a rematch of the Thunderpick World Championship grand final from two weeks earlier, which FURIA won 3-2. In Bucharest, FURIA again relied on strong T sides on Dust2 and Cache.

FURIA led 11-2 on Dust2 and looked set for an easy win. BETBOOM fought back with key rounds from zorte to force overtime, but FURIA went flawless there, sealed by a clean YEKINDAR clutch.

BETBOOM controlled the early part of Cache. After the switch, KSCERATO won a 1v2 in the pistol round and YEKINDAR found a quad-kill from Boost. The pair finished on 1.41 and 1.37 ratings.

What to expect from the semi-finals

MOUZ and FURIA meet for the fourth time in just over a month. According to HLTV, FURIA won the first meeting at StarSeries Fall before two 0-2 losses at ESL Pro League S24.

In the other semi-final, Vitality face Nemiga. Vitality beat NAVI 2-1 in the quarter-finals, while Nemiga knocked out FUT 2-0 after coming back from 3-9 down on Nuke.

Playoff format

The playoffs are single-elimination best-of-threes. The two semi-final losers play a best-of-three third-place decider, and the grand final is a best-of-five.
