Worlds 2026: Team Liquid and G2 eliminated

Worlds 2026 delivered a brutal day for the West: Team Liquid lost 2-1 to Brazil's LØS and G2 Esports were swept 2-0 by Hanwha Life Esports, eliminating both in the Swiss stage. The final three quarter-final spots are decided today.

Both series were played on October 30 in Allen, Texas, and both were 1-2 elimination matches, so the losers went straight home.

October 30 results and the final-day schedule

Times are taken from winrate.lol's UTC schedule. DK and Gen.G already qualified at 3-0, while T1, IG and TES made it through at 3-1.

How did LØS knock out Team Liquid?

Hotspawn describes Game 1 as LØS's from start to finish, with Curse going 7/0/6 on Trundle. Strafe reports the kill score ended 15-7. Team Liquid hit back in Game 2, where their scaling composition, Ornn in particular, eventually took over.

The decider was one of the longest games of the tournament so far at more than 47 minutes. LØS led for most of it but struggled to close, before finally pushing into Liquid's base with a gold lead of nearly 8,000 to end it. Zest starred on top-lane Tristana.

A milestone for Brazil

According to Strafe, LØS are the first Brazilian team to reach the fifth and final round of the Worlds Swiss stage. They opened with losses to T1 and G2, then eliminated Team Secret Whales 2-0 before sending home the LCS top seed.

Why was G2's exit such a shock?

G2 arrived in North America widely tipped as one of the best teams in the world, as Hotspawn points out. Against HLE, though, the series was one-way traffic. The two games lasted barely 54 minutes combined, and HLE top laner Zeus put on a show on K'Sante in Game 1 and Ambessa in Game 2.

As Insider Gaming notes, it means three of the four major regions' first seeds are now out in Swiss. LPL champions Anyone's Legend had already fallen to Team Liquid, and now Liquid and G2 have followed.

What happens on the final day of Worlds 2026 Swiss?

All three of today's series are best-of-three elimination matches. Movistar KOI and Karmine Corp kick things off at 17:00 UTC in a heated European rivalry that guarantees the LEC a quarter-finalist. At 20:00 UTC, LØS try to knock out a third North American side when they face LYON.

The headline act closes the night at 23:00 UTC: Hanwha Life Esports against Bilibili Gaming. Hotspawn says the matchup could easily have been a final, and one of the two pre-tournament favourites will leave without playing a single best-of-five.
