The 007 First Light PS Plus trial is live: Premium members can now play IO Interactive's James Bond game free for one hour. The Game Trial went live on November 3, and any progress you make carries over if you buy the full game.
The timing is smart. The trial lands in the same week as the PlayStation Store Black Friday sale, which Push Square says includes the game's Deluxe Edition. You can try it first, then pick it up at a discount.
What is in the 007 First Light PS Plus trial?
The trial lasts 60 minutes and starts from the beginning of the campaign. Push Square says that is enough to finish the prologue mission, Against the Odds, with time left to sample the training mission, The Needle's Eye. IGN calls the training sections surprisingly fun and inventive for a tutorial.
The best part is that progress carries over. If you enjoy it and buy the game, you pick up where you left off instead of replaying the first hour.

Which PS Plus members can play it?
There is some confusion here. The game's official X account said the trial is open to "all PlayStation Plus members." As Push Square points out, Game Trials are only part of the PS Plus Premium tier. IGN lists the trial for Premium and Deluxe members, Deluxe being Premium's equivalent in some regions. Essential and Extra members will not see it.
Why is 007 First Light worth trying?
007 First Light is one of the best-reviewed games of 2026. IGN gave it a 9 out of 10, saying IO Interactive brings the Bond fantasy to life in a way no game has managed before. Push Square praised its characters, globetrotting story and sandbox missions.
Sales are strong too. IGN says the game passed 4 million copies by August 2026. IO Interactive, the studio behind Hitman, has shipped free post-launch updates and plans a new story DLC before the end of the year. A Nintendo Switch 2 version is due in March.
The game follows a young James Bond earning his 00 number. IGN says it builds on the curated action-stealth formula of Hitman: Absolution, with patient pacing and plenty of gadgets.
Who should try it?
- Hitman fans who have not played the Bond game yet
- Players curious about its mix of stealth, gadgets and set-piece action
- Anyone planning to buy it in the Black Friday sale who wants to be sure first
- PS Plus Premium members looking to get more from their subscription
Black Friday and PS Plus deals
According to IGN, the game drops to about $42 at 40 percent off in the US. Prices vary by region, so check your local PlayStation Store before buying.
