Borderlands 100 million is now official. In a message published on November 2, Gearbox and 2K said the series has passed 100 million units sold. The studio also confirmed new Borderlands 4 content is coming in 2027.

How did Borderlands pass 100 million copies?

Gearbox put it simply: the Borderlands franchise has officially crossed 100 million units sold, and not many series have ever hit that mark. The studio noted that it all started with the first Borderlands in 2009 and thanked the community.

Gearbox did not share a breakdown by game, so Borderlands 4's own share is unknown. Insider Gaming points out that the figure confirms a prediction from Gearbox CEO Randy Pitchford in August 2025. He said Borderlands 4 would push the series past 100 million units easily.
