How do you pick a Clash of Clans TH7 base layout?
Start with what you want from the village. Our older articles split bases by three goals:
- War: loot does not matter. The only goal is to lose as little of the base as possible and give up few stars, so the Town Hall sits in the center.
- Farming: in regular attacks the opponent is after your loot. Storages move to the center and the Town Hall can sit outside.
- Standard or hybrid: tries to protect both trophies and loot. Our older article notes that the attacker often takes 1 star and some trophies, but you keep most of your loot.
A reminder on trophies: if the attacker stays under 50% destruction and fails to take down the Town Hall, they get no star and you win trophies on defense.
Why do you need a new base at every level? As our older articles point out, the number of buildings and walls you have changes at every Town Hall level. A base made for the level below either leaves no room for your new buildings or wastes them, so when you reach Town Hall 7 it is best to rearrange the village around the buildings of this level.
How is the TH7 war base set up?
The Town Hall is in the middle with Air Defenses to its north and south. Storages are kept near the center too. Wizard Towers, Archer Towers and Cannons are spread across the corners to make entry harder, and the Gold Mines and Elixir Collectors are outside.
How does the TH7 farming base work?
Storages are in the center, surrounded by Air Defenses. The Clan Castle sits right in the middle so its troops meet anyone who reaches the storages. Mortars to the east and west cover ground attacks in a crossfire, and Cannons, Wizard Towers and Archer Towers fill the corners.
How is the TH7 standard base set up?
Air Defenses surround the Town Hall. This time the Mortars sit next to the storages to protect the loot instead of the Town Hall. The other towers are spread across the corners, and the Air Sweeper works best where it can meet incoming air attacks.
Why does the TH7 honeycomb base work?
The honeycomb base from our 2021 article is wide and made of well-walled cells. Ground troops split up and wander in different directions. Dragons have to come in at a wide angle, so they get stuck on outer buildings and struggle to reach the center. Our older article says this cuts both loot and trophy losses.
How do you build the base from the picture?
Our earlier Town Hall 7 articles did not include in-game copy links, so you need to rebuild the base by hand from the picture:
- Pick the base that matches your goal.
- Move the Town Hall and storages to their spots in the picture first.
- Place the defenses around them in the same order as the picture.
- Draw the wall rings as shown and leave traps for last.
- If you have more buildings than the picture shows, put the extras on the outer ring.
