Looking for a Clash of Clans TH9 base layout? This page puts 4 example bases in one place: a war base, farming base, standard base and hybrid base. All of them are for Town Hall 9.
Last updated: October 30, 2026. These layouts and pictures come from our earlier Town Hall 9 articles, first published in 2021: Clash of Clans Town Hall 9 (TH9) Base Layouts: Farming, Trophy, Hybrid and War. We carried over what each base is meant to do from those articles and added no new measurements. Game updates may have changed building counts, so treat each picture as a placement idea rather than an exact copy.
| Base | Goal | Town Hall | Storages |
|---|---|---|---|
| War base | Give up few stars | Center | Secondary |
| Farming base | Protect loot | Outside | Center |
| Standard base | Balance both | Center | Near the Town Hall |
| Hybrid base | Trophies and loot | Center | Near the Town Hall |
How do you pick a Clash of Clans TH9 base layout?
Start with what you want from the village. Our older articles split bases by three goals:
- War: loot does not matter. The only goal is to lose as little of the base as possible and give up few stars, so the Town Hall sits in the center.
- Farming: in regular attacks the opponent is after your loot. Storages move to the center and the Town Hall can sit outside.
- Standard or hybrid: tries to protect both trophies and loot. Our older article notes that the attacker often takes 1 star and some trophies, but you keep most of your loot.
A reminder on trophies: if the attacker stays under 50% destruction and fails to take down the Town Hall, they get no star and you win trophies on defense.
Why do you need a new base at every level? As our older articles point out, the number of buildings and walls you have changes at every Town Hall level. A base made for the level below either leaves no room for your new buildings or wastes them, so when you reach Town Hall 9 it is best to rearrange the village around the buildings of this level.
How is the TH9 war base set up?
The Town Hall is in the center with an X-Bow to its north and south. Mortars on the ring around the Town Hall stop ground troops early, Air Defenses sit on the outer lines, and Archer Towers and Cannons hold the outermost ring.

How does the TH9 farming base work?
The Dark Elixir Storage is the heart of this base. X-Bows and Mortars surround it in the center, and the other storages are kept close by. Archer Towers, Cannons and Wizard Towers sit toward the outer ring as a front line.

How is the TH9 standard base set up?
Our older article also calls this one a hybrid. The Town Hall is in the center with X-Bows and Mortars around it. Storages stay close to the Town Hall so they are covered too. Archer and Wizard Towers are on the outside, with Cannons a bit further in.

What does the TH9 hybrid base do?
The hybrid base from our 2021 article aims to protect both trophies and loot. As that article put it, no attack can be survived with zero damage. The goal is to give the opponent as little loot and as few trophies as possible.

How do you build the base from the picture?
Our earlier Town Hall 9 articles did not include in-game copy links, so you need to rebuild the base by hand from the picture:
- Pick the base that matches your goal.
- Move the Town Hall and storages to their spots in the picture first.
- Place the defenses around them in the same order as the picture.
- Draw the wall rings as shown and leave traps for last.
- If you have more buildings than the picture shows, put the extras on the outer ring.
Frequently asked questions
Which TH9 base layout is best?
It depends on your goal. Use the war base to keep the Town Hall safe in clan war, the farming base to protect your storages, and the standard base if you want a bit of both.
Do these TH9 layouts have in-game links?
No. Our earlier Town Hall 9 articles had no copy links, so you need to build the base by hand from the picture.
Which mode should the TH9 X-Bow use?
Our 2021 article notes that ground-only mode gives more range, but it still recommends running the X-Bow in ground and air mode.
