FC 27 Career Mode player development now happens on the pitch, not on the training ground. Form, morale and match fitness drive a player's rating, and strong performances can even raise potential. Your main tools are regular minutes and good morale management.
What changed in FC 27 Career Mode player development?

EA's Career Deep Dive from July 31 rebuilt the development system:
- The Training Plan is gone. Match Fitness replaces it; only the Energy Recovery setting remains from the old system.
- Coaches no longer boost attributes. They assess potential instead, and better coaches give more accurate projections. Staff is capped at 12 coaches across goalkeeping, defence, midfield and attack.
- Dynamic OVR. Ratings rise and fall during the season with form, morale and match fitness.
- Dynamic Potential. Strong performances can raise a player's ceiling, while prolonged poor form can slow development.
- Six Growth Profiles decide how players develop, when they peak and how they decline.
Our older guide covered training drills (FIFA 23 Career Mode player development), but that method no longer applies in FC 27.
The three pillars of Dynamic OVR

| Pillar | What it does | How to manage it |
|---|---|---|
| Form | Pulls a player towards a target rating based on performances and development outlook. Emerging players can rise more sharply than veterans. | Give young players regular minutes in a suitable position. |
| Morale | Now directly affects rating and swings more across a season. | Keep squad role promises; minutes, results and contract status all matter. |
| Match Fitness | Ranges from Peak to Unfit. No direct bonus, but unready players get a performance penalty. | Rotate, manage Energy Recovery and handle injuries. |
How to develop players in FC 27, step by step

- Give them minutes. FIFPlay notes that playing time affects morale, Dynamic OVR and Dynamic Potential together. Leaving a prospect on the bench can lower their ceiling.
- Play them in the right position. Form affects the attributes tied to a player's preferred position. In FC 27 a player can have one primary and up to six secondary positions, and playing them in a preferred secondary position carries no out-of-position penalty.
- Keep squad role promises. If morale drops, Dynamic OVR drops with it. Benching a player you promised a key role for a month backfires.
- Protect match fitness. Tired players get a performance penalty, and poor performances drag down form and potential. Rotate during busy spells. EA says injuries are more frequent in Authentic gameplay and light knocks can linger past matchday.
- Hire good coaches, with the right expectations. Coaches don't add attributes; they help you read potential accurately. That matters when deciding which youngster to invest in. Squad Ranks also predict a player's likely impact, with accuracy depending on your coaches.
- Consider the Growth Profile. An early bloomer and a late developer need different plans. According to FIFPlay, profiles include an early peak, steady growth into the late twenties, a short peak and a sharp decline after peaking.
- Use loans wisely. Loan out youngsters who won't get minutes. Dynamic Potential also applies to AI clubs in Deeper Simulation leagues, and FIFPlay says you can use Deeper Simulation data to track loanees. FC 27 expands Deeper Simulation from five to ten leagues.
Development Plans and Player Actions
EA says a new Player Actions list centralises scouting, recruitment and squad decisions, with shortcuts to development plans. FIFPlay also lists Development Plans as a menu option for players at your club. We could not confirm in an official source exactly what these plans change in FC 27 (position, role or attribute focus), so check the plan's description in game before committing.
What to look for in a young player

- Potential projection: with weak coaches, the estimate can be off.
- Scouting: FC 27 scouting reports have four stages: Tactical Fit, Future, Financial Assessment and Status. The gradual attribute reveal has been removed.
- A path to minutes: a prospect will struggle to play in a squad full of stars, and Dynamic Potential needs game time.
