  • Before updating, you need to make sure you're installing a newer BIOS version by comparing it with your current one. To do this, go to the Windows search bar or open the Windows Start menu, type 'msinfo,' and press Enter to open System Information. Note the BIOS version, which should be listed just below your processor info. If you don't know your motherboard model, you should see it listed as System Model.
  • Open your motherboard manufacturer's official website and find the support page for your motherboard model. The support page has a Downloads section containing various drivers, software, and utilities. Find the BIOS section there and download the latest version for your motherboard.
  • If the downloaded file is a ZIP or RAR, extract it using compression software. You'll now have the new BIOS firmware file along with any additional files. Save all the files to a USB flash drive.
  • Restart your system and enter the BIOS. The correct key to enter the BIOS is listed when your system boots up, but you can also try options like F2 and Delete.
  • Once you're in the BIOS, look for the BIOS or UEFI flashing tool. On some motherboards this tool is found under Q-Flash. If you have an older motherboard, look for an option to update the BIOS.
  • When you open the BIOS flashing utility/setting, you should back up your current BIOS firmware. Not every motherboard offers a current-BIOS backup feature, but if your BIOS/UEFI flashing tool does, making a backup and saving it to a flash drive is important so you don't lose any data.
  • Now you can start the update by selecting the new BIOS firmware file you downloaded and copied to the flash drive.
  • After the flashing process, when you restart your computer, you'll see that your BIOS has been updated to the latest version.
