League of Legends 12.6 Top Lane Meta Champions

Now that the LoL 12.6 patch has finally landed on the servers after a long wait, players want to know whether the meta has changed at all. We did a bit of digging to answer that. As a result of our research, we've put together a meta list of top lane champions. Here are the LoL 12.6 top lane meta champions we found for you!

LoL 12.6 Top Lane Meta Champions

Top lane players are known as durable or high-damage champions who use the long lane to crush their opposing champions. These are typically attack-damage and/or true-damage dealers who need high damage, good sustain, or a strong presence in skirmishes. Having a strong top laner can be the difference between victory and defeat. That's why we're listing the meta champions we found for the 12.6 patch in order below.

Riven

Riven is one of the hardest champions to understand, but she's a strong pick in top lane. What makes her such a great top laner is that she deals high damage and, thanks to her ability to turn snowballing games into easy wins, she's a mobile top lane carry. Once players master her abilities, she can dominate the rift without much difficulty. To play Riven well, you need to practice on this champion many times. Since Riven is known as one of the hardest champions, a beginner player picking her can be bad news for the outcome of the game. So if you've never played Riven before, it's in your best interest not to pick this character.

Darius

Darius has always been one of the best top laners since his release. As a reliable top laner, he can become tanky while dealing a ton of damage. One of his best attacks is swinging his axe in a circle; this is great for clearing large numbers of minions, and enemies hit by the blade take more damage than those hit by the handle. On top of this, Patch 12.6 buffed the damage of Noxian Guillotine (his R ability). Overall, players with an aggressive playstyle can enjoy this fighter.

Tryndamere

It seems Tryndamere was a bit too strong before he got nerfed in the most recent patch notes. This resulted in a reduced cooldown reduction per crit for Spinning Slash (his E ability) and an increased cooldown for Undying Rage (his R ability). Even so, with his ability to spend Fury and heal himself using Bloodlust, he's a formidable force to face. Tryndamere is an extremely aggressive fighter, since his Attack Damage grows the more wounds he takes.

Mordekaiser

Mordekaiser is currently a popular pick for top lane. His kit is unique and versatile, since Indestructible (his W ability) lets him store the damage he deals and takes to create a shield. His arguably best ability is Realm of Death (his R ability), which drags his victim into a different dimension where he steals a portion of their stats. If he manages to kill them, he keeps those stats until the opponent respawns. Our champion Morde is considered a simple champion by many users. So if you're looking for a beginner-level champion for LoL, Mordekaiser will suit that need well.

Fiora

Last on our list is Fiora. Since she's a terrifying champion to play against, we've placed her at the bottom of our list. She excels in most 1v1 situations and scales well into the late game. She's an extremely mobile and versatile champion. This means many other top laners will struggle to counter her. If players can master her abilities and play to her strengths well, she becomes an unstoppable force. Our champion gets an extreme power spike from her ultimate ability, and in the hands of a skilled player who has mastered her mechanics, she can work wonders. Once you pick up Titanic Hydra and Death's Dance on this champion, no one can stand against her. If you want a tip, you can play safe under your tower until level 6, take small trades, and then go in on your opponent with your ultimate once you hit level 6.
