How to Fix LoL's "Unexpected Error Occurred" Login Issue

Players have been running into the LoL an unexpected error has occurred warning in League of Legends for a while now. So how can we fix this error? We're sharing our suggested fixes for the League of Legends an unexpected error occurred while logging in issue with you.

Exit the Game Before the Error Screen Appears

1. Launch the LoL client as usual and log in to your account.
2. Before the error message appears, click the X button as if you're closing the game.
3. When you click X, LoL will ask whether you want to exit the game or log out of your account.
4. Then, click log out.
5. LoL will restart, and this time it won't give you an error.

Log Out and Close the Processes in Task Manager

1. Launch the LoL client.
2. Then close the client with ALT + F4 and click the log out button in the settings section.
3. After logging out, open Task Manager with CTRL + SHIFT + ESC.
4. Scroll down in Task Manager, find the Riot Client process, and close it.
5. Once you're sure everything is closed, restart the client and try to connect again.

On top of all this, we recommend changing your DNS settings. If this suggested fix doesn't work either, as a last resort you can submit a support ticket to Riot Games and wait for them to resolve the issue.
