Sony has delayed the PlayStation Pulse Elevate wireless speakers indefinitely. They were due out on November 12, but quality testing turned up a production issue. There is no new release date for Pulse Elevate yet, and it is unclear what happens to existing pre-orders.

The news came in a November 6 update to Sony's original PlayStation Blog announcement, first spotted by IGN, less than a week before the planned launch.

Why was Pulse Elevate delayed?

Sony says its ongoing quality testing of the Pulse Elevate speakers identified a production issue, so it decided to delay the launch. The company said the extra time will allow it to make sure the product delivers the experience it intended, apologised for the delay and said it looks forward to bringing Pulse Elevate to players soon.

Sony did not explain what the problem is. IGN notes it is unclear how many units were manufactured before the delay or how the issue affects them, and Eurogamer says it is not yet known what happens to pre-orders.

What are the Pulse Elevate specs?

Sony revealed Pulse Elevate in September 2025 as its first wireless speakers for desktop gaming. They join the Pulse Elite headset and Pulse Explore earbuds in the Pulse audio line, priced at $219.99 and £199.99.

The speakers connect to PS5, PC, Mac and PlayStation Portal via PlayStation Link and can pair with a phone over Bluetooth at the same time. A microphone in the right speaker uses what Sony calls "AI-enhanced noise rejection", and Sony also highlighted planar magnetic drivers. Midnight Black was due to be sold everywhere, while White was limited to a handful of countries, including the UK.

  • November 6: Sony announces the delay on the PlayStation Blog
  • Reason: A production issue found in quality testing
  • Pre-orders: Opened in September, status unclear
  • New date: Not announced

What does the delay mean for buyers?

Anyone waiting for Pulse Elevate will have to hold on a little longer. IGN went hands-on with the speakers in June and called the noise rejection "seriously impressive stuff", so interest was high. A last-minute delay suggests the issue is not trivial, and the big questions now are when Sony will share a new date and what it will do with pre-orders.

Pulse Elevate was revealed alongside other hardware in September 2025, including a 27-inch gaming monitor that is only coming to the US and Japan. Among that lineup, the speakers were the model aimed at desktop audio.
