Today we're bringing an agent that VALORANT players didn't love at first, but is now considered a near-must in almost every composition, to our agent guide series. Yes, as you probably guessed, today's agent guide series guest is Sova. He hails from the vast tundras of Russia. Known for the line "They call me the Hunter," he's a bit tricky to play. Actually, using his abilities is simple enough, but you'll need good aim and a bit of math to really make the most of him. Without further ado, let's get into the Sova agent guide we've prepared for you. Here's the VALORANT Sova guide 2022!

VALORANT Sova Abilities

Sova's abilities, when used correctly, change the rules of the game and are best suited to someone who leans toward being agile on both Attack and Defense. As an Initiator, his reliable bow and arrow can change the course of a round in the blink of an eye. We've detailed all four of Sova's abilities below:

C Ability — Owl Drone (400 Credits): EQUIP an owl drone. FIRE to launch the owl drone and control its movement. While controlling the drone, FIRE to launch a marking dart. This dart reveals the location of any player it hits. Q Ability — Shock Bolt (150 Credits): EQUIP a bow with a shock bolt. FIRE to send the explosive forward. The bolt explodes on impact, damaging nearby players. HOLD FIRE to increase the shot's travel distance. Use ALT FIRE to bounce the bolt up to two times. E Ability — Recon Bolt (Free; 40s cooldown): EQUIP a bow with a recon bolt. FIRE to send the recon bolt forward. The bolt activates on impact and reveals the location of enemies caught near its line of sight. HOLD FIRE to increase the shot's travel distance. Use ALT FIRE to bounce the bolt up to two times. X (Ultimate) Ability — Hunter's Fury (8 Points): EQUIP a bow that fires three wall-piercing energy blasts. FIRE to create a line of energy blasts in front of Sova, damaging and revealing the location of any enemies caught in it. This ability can be RE-USED two more times while the ability counter is active. Sova's Owl Drone lets you sneak a peek at a site or a specific lane while also letting you tag enemies for your teammates. The controllable drone, which costs 400 credits, proves to be a handy tool for any squad that needs intel. Combined with the Recon Bolt, both abilities let you gather rich information about where enemies are without taking any damage. It's worth noting that both Sova's Recon Bolt and Shock Bolt can bounce off up to two surfaces. So if you want to curve your bolt's trajectory around a corner, make sure to use nearby surfaces to your advantage here.

How to Play Sova

The first thing you'll want to do when picking up the Russian hunter is learn the lineups, and you'll need to know exactly where to fire your Recon Bolt to get the most information. Of course, you can also scout with the Owl Drone, which has a great cost-to-impact ratio.

One downside of the drone is that it's relatively easy for the enemy to destroy. However, once you master charging the Recon Bolt to bounce it off surfaces (making it harder for your opponent to counter), it can provide you with a wealth of critical information. Besides the agent's knack for gathering key intel, his ultimate (Hunter's Fury) serves two purposes. Essentially, Sova can fire three lethal energy blasts that pierce through a large portion of the map in the direction they're fired. Given that these wall-piercing energy blasts can deal damage and reveal your enemy's location, it's a very useful tool.

Despite the loud audio cue that warns the enemy Sova has fired his laser, Hunter's Fury can both corner enemies as they try to escape and force the opposing team to deal with them. It's no secret that Sova is a master of reconnaissance, and Hunter's Fury is one of the reasons why.

That's it for today's agent guide series. See you in our next agent guide..
