Epic has finally revealed the Fortnite Pirate Shop odds. Every chest opened in a normal match has a 1 in 137,500 chance of dropping Pirate Shop Access, and that chance is boosted by 1.5x during Treasure Hours. The full list covers every treasure in the season.
The figures arrived after a week of player backlash. Epic posted the breakdown on its Fortnite Status account, finally putting a number on the ultra-rare reward that many players call the Pirate Token.
What are the Fortnite Pirate Shop odds?
The Treasure Hunters mini-season launched on November 1 and added weekly treasures to chests across the map. Pirate Shop Access is the most valuable of them. Here are the normal match rates and Treasure Hours boosts Epic shared:
| Treasure | Normal match (per chest) | Treasure Hours boost |
|---|---|---|
| Weekly Gold Outfit | 1 in 1,562,500 | 7.5x |
| Pirate Shop Access | 1 in 137,500 | 1.5x |
| Weekly Vehicle & Decal | 1 in 7,813 | 10x |
| Weekly Pickaxe or Back Bling | 1 in 568 | - |
| Weekly Jam Track | 1 in 391 | - |
| Weekly Loading Screen | 1 in 272 | - |
| Gizmo (any) | 1 in 127 | - |
The Weekly Gold Outfit is the rarest drop, with Pirate Shop Access second. Gizmos are the most common treasure, and Epic added that, apart from Gizmos, players cannot receive the same treasure twice.

What does Pirate Shop Access give you?
As Dexerto explains, the reward comes with two activations. Each one opens a 14-day window during which eligible Item Shop cosmetics can be claimed without spending V-Bucks. Real-money offers, gifting and Battle Pass rewards are excluded.
- Launch: Treasure Hunters mini-season, November 1, 2026
- Base chance: 1 in 137,500 per chest
- Treasure Hours: 1.5x boost for Pirate Shop Access
- Reward length: Two activations of 14 days each
- Excluded: Real-money offers, gifting and Battle Pass rewards
Why did players demand the odds?
The reward quickly became the biggest talking point in Fortnite. Many players spent hours opening chests with nothing to show for it. IGN reports that some called for a boycott, while others tried to report Epic to the US Federal Trade Commission. According to Dexerto, streamer Jynxzi said he had spent more than 75 hours searching and Stable Ronaldo more than 70, and both pushed Epic to publish the numbers.
In a first response on November 3, Epic said the reward works like any other Battle Royale chest and that every player has an equal opportunity to find it, warning that buying accounts or using fake tools is a scam. That statement included no figure, and community estimates varied wildly, with some players guessing the chance was closer to 1 in 7,000.
Leakers also claimed that a server-side system called "Clover" controls the odds. Dexerto stresses that Epic has not confirmed those claims. Epic's new statement says the rates have stayed the same since launch and do not change during the day.

What does 1 in 137,500 really mean?
The rate is not a pity timer. Every chest is a separate roll, so a player can open thousands without ever seeing the reward. Treasure Hours are the only way to improve the odds, and Epic says future events may offer bigger multipliers. Most players welcomed the transparency, although plenty pointed out it should not have taken a week.
