FIFA 22 players, stuck in a single division all year, have been calling on EA to bring back relegation in Division Rivals. Now that Ultimate Team Season 2 has begun, players have gotten their wish - though there are a few details to know.
Relegation Is Back in FUT 22!
FIFA 22 Ultimate Team has made a series of changes to the popular Division Rivals mode, scrapping previous years' skill-rating-based system in favor of a ladder structure completed with checkpoints.

The new system didn't require much of a weekly time commitment and made qualifying for the FUT Champions Play-offs relatively simple, but players soon started getting stuck in divisions too high to win another match in.

What's the Latest Update to FIFA 22 Ultimate Team Division Rivals?
EA confirmed on Twitter that FUT Season 2 will bring a reset to Division Rivals progress. However, instead of letting players drop divisions by losing matches throughout the season, every Rivals player will be able to relegate just once.
Also, rather than sending everyone back to Division 10 to start from scratch, it was announced that whichever division your dropped rank corresponds to in Season 1, that's where you'll start in Season 2.
FUT Champions players can rest assured they won't lose any points or tokens when Season 2 arrives, but any incomplete Play-off runs will be reset.
As a final change, you'll see that the FUT Champions points required to qualify for the Season 2 Play-offs has been raised to 2,000.
How Does Division Rivals Relegation Work in FIFA 22 Season 2?

Starting November 12, any player in Division 6 or higher, including those in Elite Division, will drop two divisions. Those in Division 7 or 8 will only drop one division, and everyone in the bottom two divisions will stay put.
While this isn't quite the relegation comeback fans wanted, it's expected to please those who've been stuck in high leagues for weeks, letting them progress in Rivals once again.
At the same time, it's not a bad deal for elite players either, since they won't have to climb back up from Division 10 to start earning the best rewards again.

EA hasn't yet shared whether it has plans to change the format later in the season if players start hitting a skill wall again like they did in Season 1.
