GTA 6 launch gallery: Rockstar shares 38 screenshots

The GTA 6 launch gallery is live: Rockstar shared 38 new screenshots two weeks before release. The frames spotlight Vice City nightlife, Jason and Lucia in action, and local wildlife.

The gallery is open to everyone on the game's official site. There is no new trailer or gameplay detail, but it gives a strong sense of how varied Leonida looks.

What is in the GTA 6 launch gallery?

Eurogamer says the gallery mixes action scenes with slices of daily life. Examples include a DJ mid-set, a man staring down the camera with his pitbull, a tattooed man getting his hair done with a machine gun in hand, and a daring motorbike escape. The writer's favorite is a lively dive bar where a band called The Rusty Anchor plays.

PC Gamer sums it up as nightlife, wildlife and plenty of armed Jason and Lucia shots. It also highlights a tactical-geared Jason who looks like he has just stepped off a military aircraft, with a dog in the background wearing its own gear. Police raids, high-speed chase stills and scuba scenes round out the list.

Which regions and characters do the screenshots show?

According to How To Video Game, Rockstar's own file names put 15 shots in Vice City. Nineteen center on Jason and Lucia. Two come from the Grassrivers swamps, one from Port Gellhorn and one from underwater in the Leonida Keys.

The same source describes scenes such as Jason and Lucia robbing a Fleeca bank branch, a motorbike chase in the rain with helicopters overhead, and a night-time gas station stop with two armed officers approaching.

There are calmer frames too. The same roundup says Jason and Lucia dance in The Rusty Anchor bar and sit on a pickup above Vice City. In one shot Jason bench-presses weights. In the Leonida Keys, a diver's flashlight glows behind a lionfish. In Grassrivers, an airboat with three men heads toward an alligator.

Vice City scenes include a packed nightclub, a daytime car meet and police surrounding a yacht. Rockstar's Newswire post calls the gallery "a stunning look at Vice City and beyond" and says the game is now officially only two weeks away.

What does this mean for players?

The gallery is a marketing step: it shows the world from many angles two weeks out. Eurogamer presents the images as in-game screenshots, but Rockstar gave no technical details for them. So we cannot draw conclusions about frame rate or platform differences.

Still, the gallery shows Vice City is not only crime and chases. Nightclubs, bars, diving and swamp scenes point to a varied open world. Actual gameplay will have to wait until November 19.
