LoL 12.19 Meta Champions Explained

The LoL 12.19 patch hit the official servers this morning. Players facing a brand-new patch naturally want to keep up with the new meta right away. But when they look into the new meta, they can't yet see anything fully clear-cut. So we've decided to list the champions with a high early pick rate and an equally high win rate for you. Who Are the LoL 12.19 Meta Champions?

Top Lane

Shen

We hadn't seen the champion Shen on any tier list for a long time. So we were surprised to find Shen in the S- tier after our research. Looking into why, we saw that Shen received a small update. The update to his ultimate seems to have buffed him slightly. Shen was already tailor-made for someone who knows how to play him. But now he greets us as considerably stronger even for someone who plays the champion at a normal level. If you're not too aggressive in lane and calmly get through your laning phase, you'll be able to carry the game, or at worst, tank all the damage as a capable frontliner.

Jungle

Nidalee

Nidalee's Human Form W cost was reduced, her E's mana cost was reduced at later ranks, and its cast range was increased. In addition, Cougar Form W's damage radius was increased. While this may not mean much to players who don't know how to use both of Nidalee's forms efficiently, Nidalee is an outstanding champion with insane mobility and healing on Summoner's Rift. In particular, many players are drawn in by the fact that her Cougar Form abilities are free to cast. Human Form Nidalee's Q also deals quite considerable damage from long range. If you have good aim, picking this champion will work in your favor.

Mid Lane

Pyke

Let's get to the strongest mid lane champion in this patch. In patch 12.19, there's a champion that dominates especially hard in the mid lane. As you might guess, this champion is Pyke. If you haven't played Pyke in years, or you're seeing him for the first time, we strongly recommend staying away. That's because Pyke is an assassin champion, so you need to practice with him. Just like Fizz, this champion needs to be played by someone with good aim.

Now you might ask me why good aim is needed to play him. Or dear FireGhost, you might say, why are you questioning our aiming skill in a game that isn't an FPS? You'd be quite right, but abilities like Pyke's Q, much like our Fizz's ultimate, need to be thrown at the opponent with a proper aiming method. If you miss these abilities, you're very likely to swing the game's fate the other way. So if your aim is already good, you shouldn't miss these champions in the mid lane in the LoL 12.19 patch.

ADC

Jhin

Jhin has become the choice of many people who need a fun and unique ADC to play. Although he's quite different from other ADCs, his long-range shots deal tons of damage to enemy champions. For a support champion, Sona will generally be a great pick, since she can heal, attack, and even stun with her ultimate. Those who love playing Jhin will love this patch a lot. In this patch, Jhin comes out as the number one meta champion among marksmen. If you can spend his bullets properly, victory at the end of the game will be inevitable for you.

Blitzcrank

Blitzcrank is a champion that can be played to its full potential by people who have developed their aim. I'm not joking about aim at all. His Q ability can only be landed with a superb ability and a superb read on the target. Even though it does something bad by pulling the enemy toward your marksman, a well-placed Q can change the course of the game a great deal. So people who pick this champion should keep situations like this in mind before locking in their choice.
