Who Are the MSI 2022 Participants?
MSI 2022 will have 11 teams that are champions of their local League of Legends tournaments from around the world.
One region will be missing from the fanfare: BDT will miss MSI 2022 after the cancellation of the LCL 2022 Spring Split. Similar to Vietnam's exclusion in 2021, they will not be replaced by another region receiving a second slot.

Who Are the MSI 2022 Favorites?
Of course, the favorites of the 2022 Mid-Season Invitational are none other than T1. With a veteran player like Faker at the helm, the team managed to go beyond 20-0 in this Spring LCK. The only piece that changed since the offseason was the top laners, but the rest of the team is none other than the players who reached the semifinals of the 2021 World Championship.
Therefore, with a World Championship's worth of experience behind them and the support of the home crowd, there is no denying that T1 are the favorites to make the 2022 MSI Finals and take the trophy home. The 30 ping could be a disadvantage for them.
Who Are the MSI 2022 Runner-Up Favorites?
There are multiple teams that could also make the 2022 MSI finals. RNG and PSG Talon are strong teams with experienced players who know how to deal with the pressure of playing on the international stage. We could also have put G2 Esports in A-Tier, but with the international rookies in the bot lane and the addition of BrokenBlade in the top lane, we felt they were better suited to B-Tier.
Still, if caPs brings his A-game, it could also show the world that G2 are back and that the team can be considered a favorite to win the trophy. However, as stated, the rookies in the bot lane could be a downfall for G2 Esports, but as EU natives we are still keeping our hopes up.
Who Could Pull Off a Surprise at MSI 2022?
We are not forgetting the surprise contenders at this year's MSI either. Last year, DetonatioN FocusMe managed to take almost a game off the seemingly unstoppable DAMWON KIA. The team also showed great courage at the 2021 World Championship, where they reached the group stage. So, with a new mid laner, we believe DFM has a chance to upset some teams.
Another team that could surprise some people is VCS representative Buffalo Saigon. It has been more than two years since we saw a Vietnamese team at an international event, and as far as we know, the VCS will always make surprise picks that shake up its opponents. Unfortunately, both DFM and Buffalo Saigon are in the same group, so only one of them will be able to advance.
