How did Nemiga beat Vitality?

The series opened on Nemiga's pick, Cache. HLTV reports that they raced into a 7-1 lead. Vitality took the last four rounds of the half to give themselves a way back, but the comeback stalled after the switch, and Nemiga closed the map out 13-8.

robo led the way on Cache with 24 kills. On the other side, mezii, who is calling the shots for Vitality, had a rough map. According to HLTV, the Englishman finished it with just three kills and 49.6 ADR.

Dust2 was Vitality's pick, and mezii bounced back there. His quad kill in the final round of the half sent his side into the break 8-4 up. Nemiga then chipped away and levelled at 10-10. Vitality edged ahead once more, but that was their last round. Nemiga won three in a row to seal it 13-11.

Who were the standout players?

HLTV's stats leave no doubt about the player of the series. robo, Nemiga's in-game leader, went 46-27 with 101 ADR and a 1.52 rating. The rest of the team chipped in too:

HLTV's live blog notes that apEX is out on paternity leave, so mezii has taken over the calling. Vitality had beaten NAVI 2-1 in the quarter-finals, but they struggled badly on the CT side of Cache against Nemiga. At one point, according to the live blog, they had won just two of nine CT rounds.

Nemiga's run in Bucharest

Nemiga did not arrive as contenders. They lost 2-0 to Aurora in the Swiss stage but still made the playoffs. In the quarter-finals, they swept FUT on Nuke (13-11) and Dust2 (13-9). Now they have taken down Vitality as well.

The run shows up in the rankings too. Per the live VRS preview cited by HLTV, beating Vitality earns Nemiga 56 points, lifting them from 1,589 points and 12th in the world to 1,645 and 10th. HLTV says that is a gain of 153 points and 13 places since their opening match.

Nemiga will face the winner of the second semi-final between MOUZ and FURIA, played on the evening of October 30. The tournament wraps up on October 31 with a best-of-five grand final, and the losing semi-finalists meet in a best-of-three third-place match.
