Since it launched, VALORANT has been a favorite game of many FPS fans. To speed the game up and give players the chance of a competitive experience, Riot Games introduced a new Competitive mode along with a new rank system. The Competitive mode introduced lets competitive players compete against other players. To play competitively, players' account level must reach 20. To access Competitive Mode, 10 Unrated matches must be won. So let's look at the answer to the question, how does VALORANT's new Competitive mode work?

VALORANT Competitive mode rank badgesHow Does VALORANT's New Competitive Mode Work? May 2022

The new Competitive Mode assesses players' skill levels using the Iron, Bronze, Silver, Gold, Platinum, Diamond, Immortal and Radiant ranks. These ranks can be found in the tab menu or on summary scoreboards. Every rank except Radiant has three tiers, and the higher the number, the better the player's ranking. These units help players find matches and lobbies suited to their ranks. The other feature that shows how far you have progressed in Competitive Mode is Rank Rating. Rank Rating (RR) visually shows a player's progress within a given rank. At the start of each Act, all players need to play 5 matches to be placed, with Diamond 1 as the highest starting placement. A player needs to play 1 placement match to receive a rank, but it should be known that rankings will not automatically change at the start of each Act. To start, players are given 50 RR in their assigned ranks, and they need 100 RR to advance to the next rank. When players reach the 100 RR cap, they start at a minimum of 10 RR in the next rank. Rank Rating is largely affected by wins or losses.

What Factors Affect Rank Rating Besides Wins and Losses?

  • If your MMR is higher than your rank, you gain more RR from wins than you lose.
  • If your MMR is equal to your rank, you gain and lose closer amounts of RR for wins and losses.
  • If your MMR is lower than your rank, you gain less RR from wins and lose more.
  • You should raise your MMR by outperforming your opponents and winning more consistently.

How Do You Play VALORANT's New Competitive Mode With Friends?
